It is Turkey Day and I hope that you are enjoying it with family or friends, while watching the plethora of sporting events on television. As I write this Tennessee is playing well (which makes me unhappy) and Siena is being burnt (get it….burnt Siena….a little crayon humor for you). But what we really care about begins tomorrow night, when the Cats take the floor in Vegas against Kansas State. Along those lines, tomorrow may be the day that Kevin Galloway starts to emerge. In his press conference right before the team left for Sin City, Gillispie noted that he made a mistake in not playing Galloway more and earlier in the second half against Longwood. He said he was pleased with how Galloway had played early and wished he had put him in later. He said that he thought that he would remedy this situation in Vegas.
That means that this weekend could be Galloway’s opportunity to shine. More specifically, with West Virginia and Iowa playing more halfcourt basketball, his game against the athleticism of Kansas State on Friday night could be the grand opportunity that Galloway has waited for. There is no doubt he has the talent, but his performances in practice have been said to be abysmal and it is clear that for whatever reason, he and Gillispie have not connected. This trip, away from the pressures of a home crowd and with the chance to get in a rhythm over two games, could be his coming out party. For his sake, and the sake of his future at Kentucky, I hope that is the case.

Here’s to getting our Galloway on in Vegas!
Happy Thanksgiving,

plethora… I bet you used spell check for that one.

Galloway will gradually see his role increase if (and that’s a BIG IF) he plays within the scope of Coach G’s game plan for him. In other words, KG should look to pass the ball and be patient with those passes. I’m sure coach isn’t looking for hardly any points from KG but a few little backdoor cuts could be beneficial for UK considering how athletic KG is.

Well, I don’t think the entire future of Galloway and Kentucky hangs on him having a coming out party this weekend. But I see what you are saying. I just hope he comes along strong by SEC time.

He looked pretty good the 4 minutes he was in in the first half. Couldn’t figure out why he didn’t play more in the second half, but it was clear he was upset when he was in the game at the very end.
By the way, there has been some good basketball on today. I have particular enjoyed watching Maryland take down Michigan State. I have always liked Gary Williams.

Anybody know if it’s possible to watch the game if you don’t have ESPNU? I checked 360 and it didn’t look like they had it…I guess rugby is more important now a days.
November 27th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
hard to believe galloway getting big minutes against k state if he couldnt against delaware st or longwood. but hopefully im wrong, because i believe he could really help out the team if he can play the way coach wants him to. he’s alot like a.j. stewart. very athletic, alotta potential, just hasnt broke through yet.
November 27th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
He’ll have to play. Since we have done next to nothing to build a bench at this point, how do we expect to get through two games and numerous grueing practices in two days.
November 27th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
some michigan st player had tears in his eyes when maryland was up 8 with 12 minutes left. thats rediculous
November 27th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Wonder if gillespie can go a little easy on the gameday practices since we have to play two days in a row?
November 27th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Any word on if williams will get any pt this season?
November 27th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
12)Is he even eligible?
November 27th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Hahaha plethora–every time I hear that word it reminds me of “El Guapo” in the ‘Three Amigos’ hahaha. But seriously yeah he’s eligible #13. I’ve seen him and play and I personally think he’s a (really) poor man’s Gerald Fitch.
November 27th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
But without the urge to get into Varsity Blue with a fake ID.

Oh Pokey, Pokey!
“He’ll have to play. Since we have done next to nothing to build a bench at this point, how do we expect to get through two games and numerous grueing practices in two days.”
Build a bench? UK like most teams play 8 deep, maybe 9. We have a bench.
Two games, two practices, two days, no problem. This isn’t “YWCA basketball.”

14)Any clue on why he hasn’t played…I heard somewhere he was a great shooter.
November 27th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
williams is eligible, your thinking of pilgrim 13. no word on him that i kno of, but i doubt he’s gonna see the court this year.
November 27th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Let’s see some Galloway, give the kid a chance. He just needs some PT. On another note, I watched some of the UT game this afternoon, killing time while the turkey cooked. What a bunch of thugs, Hopson fits in with those punks perfectly.

The only thing I can imagine is that it’s taking him a while to learn the system. I doubt they would redshirt him because I remember them saying he turned down 4 year scholarship offers to other schools in order to play here for 1 year under a scholly, then the rest as a walk-on. Here I found the article….
” The most amazing part of this story is that Williams has already agreed that this will be a one year deal. Yes, that’s right. He is on scholarship for 2008, but will NOT be on scholarship in any subsequent years. Donald Williams passed up four year offers from Marquette and St. Johns for a one year deal to the University of Kentucky!
This does not mean that Williams will be transferring after one year. His intentions are to make as big an impact in 2008 as possible and remains as a key member of this squad as a non scholarship player.”

I asked this before but is there any other way to watch the game tomorrow night without blowing my money at some cheap sports bar?
November 27th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
And for the record, when I saw him play he knocked down a few jumpers but I was more impressed by his mechanics. His shot was pretty effortless and he had good repetition on the stroke. And I hate to say it but thats what she said. I set myself up for that one without realizing it, dammit lol.
November 27th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
22)that was pretty impressive in itself. hahaha.
November 27th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
The game is shown on ESPNU tomorrow night. If you don’t have insight digital cable in Lexington, then you probably don’t get this channel. It used to piss me off until I upgraded!
November 27th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
That sucks…I can’t believe I’ll have to listen to the radio at 12 o’clock,
November 27th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
did not know he played for CSI. he ought to investigate the crime of porter playing more than some talented players like himself.
November 27th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
We need Galloway to come on strong so he and Liggins can keep Porter off the court. Permanently.
November 27th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
can we find it streaming like the uk football game was when it was on espn u?
November 27th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
don’t know if anyone on here lives in the western kentucky area, but comcast in paducah does not have espnu, your either limited to listening to the game on radio or rafferty’s has been the uk hot spot in paducah this year. lots of tvs and they have carried every uk game this year. they are staying open late tommorrow because they are showing the game. if you live in the area, you should really watch the game there as the place has a great atmosphere for watching uk games. lots of beer specials too.
November 28th, 2008 at 1:54 am
This place might show it. Not sure if you have to sign up for an account or not.
