Breaking News: Randall Cobb to Have Knee Surgery Tomorrow

by @ 4:46 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

I was told an hour ago by a source that Randall Cobb will have knee surgery to repair cartilage in his knee and his status for the bowl game is unknown. The surgery will take place tomorrow and then his status will be better known, but for now his prognosis for the bowl game is up in the air.

Tony Neely at UK has just confirmed this news.

And now as the major networks report the story, remember which 2-bit blog with 2001 HTML put it out there….

    Holy Shit! That sucks.

  2. champ1023 Says:

    Dang….

  3. jcb973 Says:

If it’s truly a “meniscus repair”, he won’t be playing in the bowl game. If they are going to just “clean it up” he’s got a shot.

  4. jman3715 Says:

Maybe there is something to that Bear Bryant curse, ya think?

    POOP!

  6. bigbaldy Says:

    damn

  7. Robshairgel Says:

I’m suprised he lasted as long as he did,Hell he only played three positons all year!

  8. ukwildcatwildfan Says:

I just saw this on Lex18, and I came on here to post it, but you beat me to it.

This really sucks and even if he is ready for the game, he won’t have played much before eto prepare for it, so he may be rusty.

  9. BillyClyde4President Says:

I hope he gets to play in the bowl game because that’s what he’s worked so hard for. If he doesn’t play then go ahead and bank on Hartline throwing about 4 or 5 picks and UK will go down BIG because without Cobb, we have no QB, no punt returner, no WR etc!!!!

  10. JerryTownBlotter Says:

Memphis Liberty Bowl = Awesome. Sucks for Cobb but hes a freshmen with many years left to contribute. ANYONE WHO THINKS SPENDING A WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN NASHVILLE FOR NEW YEARS IS BETTER THAN THE WEEKEND IN MEMPHIS IS CRAZY AND CLEARLY HAVE NEVER BEEN TO MEMPHIS. GRANTED NASHVILLE IS COOL BUT KENTUCKY ISNT MARRIED TO MUSIC CITY AND EATING THE SAME BREAKFAST CEREAL EVERY DAY GETS OLD. MEMPHIS THIS YEAR IS BETTER PERIOD.

I agree but it’s not going to happen,Vandy hasn’t been to a bowl in 20 years,I doubt they take the music city and stay in Nashville,It’s bad for the economy,Hotels ,Restaraunts, Tourism.Music City Here We Come!!

  12. IcemanG2 Says:

Much like last year in hoops, this season just needs to end. I’m sick of all the injuries. Why are other programs not decimated like UK seems to always be?

  13. jman3715 Says:

    12) Here’s my theroy, so take it for what it’s worth (nothing). UK has the ability to attract decent players with the carrot of almost instant playing time. However, it seems that trying to attract decent players to come and sit backup other players is a hard sell (at least right now). So when a first string player goes down at UK, there’s not much in the tank to back them up.

    9. DID YOU KNOW?

Cobb throws an interception every 19.8 attempts (10.4 completions)
Hartline Throws an interception every 40 attempts (21.86 completions)

Hartline has a higher completion percentage and efficiency rating. He also averages 100 yds per game passing more. Even with the running of Cobb, Hartline still produces at nearly 70 yards more per game.

In the Georgia and Vandy games Cobb combined for 6 fumbles and 3 interceptions including 2 game losers inside the opponents 30. He never led us to a decent win. The MSU game was Roark’s block of the PAT.

Hartline QB’d the Arkansas comeback. Cobb payed WR. That is still the best bet.

i know he was a jerk, but he is the more efficient QB especially with Cobb playing his natural position. The Cobb honeymoon is over. He should be a situational QB (3rd down, or changeup plays) no doubt. Just not the primary passer.

I’m tired of running a dumbed down high school style offense.

  15. GoCats2010 Says:

did anyone else see where UofL only dropped 8 SPOTS! In both polls! what the hell is that? a top 20 team doesn’t lose to WKU

  16. Rick Says:

    moron

  17. macon_volfan Says:

Wow, the UT game hurt UK more than first thought…..

  18. 2020 Says:

Tough to determine if Cobb injured his knee passing, rushing, receiving, returning punts, selling pretzels at halftime, or sweeping the stands after the game.

  23. Rainbow_Man Says:

Oh no. Another loss. Jeez, there goes our BCS championship hopes.

  24. Todd_Svobodas_Lunchbox Says:

After the UGA game, I thought Cobb gave us a better chance to win, but I think that game was only close because there wasnt’ much tape on Cobb or us running that style of offense. I think Hartline would have gave us a better chance to beat UT, with Cobb at WR. At any rate, injuries have decimted us at this point, so it’s probably good thing we have a few weeks off to prepare for any bowl game.
