Folks We are Going to Memphis for Liberty Bowl

by @ 12:01 am. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

I am told the decision was made on Thursday afternoon….SEC wanted Cats in Nashville, Barnhart/Brooks vetoed and chose Memphis. Not official, but good source says it is done. We shall see

Woot, running out of room for the Music City Bowl trophies.

  2. GoCats2 Says:

Funny story, once when I was walking in Memphis…
I saw the ghost of Elvis on Union Avenue, I followed him up to the gates Of Graceland and I watched walk right thru. Now security did not see him, they just hovered round his tomb. Now there’s a pretty little thing, waiting on the King, down in the Jungle Room.
Ok, so its not that funny, sorry.

  3. champ1023 Says:

    *crickets chirp*

  4. dsolzman Says:

darn it, that means the game would be on Shabbas and I wouldn’t be able to watch :(

  5. BPsycho Says:

Why are Mexicans so bad at the Olympics?
Because anyone who can run, swim or jump is already in the United States!

    ba dump bump !

  6. LouisvilleBandWagonFanCraigWon'tBeOnHereForAWhile Says:

#2 lame, spare us the jokes next time - try reading a book or something

    #5 now that was funny

  7. GoCats2 Says:

6)Sorry apparently my humor is not sophisticated enough for someone like you, who apparently enjoys racist jokes that are about 40 years old.

  8. steppingonaminu Says:

so I wonder where Louisville is going….oh , what was that, Rutgers hung how many on them,,?? 63? Looks like they will be able to have Christmas dinner at the Kragthorpes this year.

  9. 10, 2, and 4 Says:

Give me liberty or give me death! Sorry.

  10. Ryan Says:

    5. 1950 called. It wants it’s joke back. Seriously, that joke is older than you probably.

  11. BPsycho Says:

Hey Dbag I didn’t say I was posting a new joke. If you want an up to date joke ” look in the mirror ”

    I’m here all night…

  12. JMcClinton slaps like a grl Says:

Come on, nobody wants to play in Memphis….I guess I’ll just have to go and enjoy the BBq.

  13. commonwealthambassador Says:

terrible decision by mitch and rich. can’t complain though, we shat the bed against vandy and now have to lie in it.

  14. GottaLoveThoseCats Says:

#2 Were you singing along as you were typing that? lol. Dammit now I have that song embedded in my head, I’ll never get back to sleep..

  15. bigcatelswick Says:

Hey, at least we’re goin’ bowling for the third year in a row!! Fans need to show some love and appreciation for the hard work that has taken place to put us in the position we’re in. I’m thrilled to make it to another bowl and gain that extra month of practice as well as get to watch the Wildcats play another ball game before we call it a season. I really wish we could create the ‘Wildcat Bowl’ and play it in Commonwealth.. Maybe against Louisville again just to prove another time that we are still better than them! ha

  16. bestdamnukfanperiod Says:

    bring your bullet proof vest

  17. Mojo Wilkins Says:

Memphis is a better choice. With all the guys injured, we have a much more winnable game in the Liberty. If Lyons, Ford, Locke, Cobb, et al. were all still healthy, we’d be in the Cotton Bowl, at least.

  18. ReverendBlue Says:

ECU and Tulsa are good. Maybe better than the ACC team we would play.

  19. Mojo Wilkins Says:

Arkansas beat Tulsa pretty easily. If it’s them, surely we can too.

  20. TayPrinceJr. Says:

Idk what to think. We have a better opportunity to win if we go there but id rather go back to Nashville

  21. drewky Says:

Eat at BB Kings and catch a late night show at the New Daisy Theater.

  22. drewster Says:

The Cotton Bowl was never in the picture — they primarily have picked SEC west teams because of travel distance — and the goal of all the bowl organizers is to sell out their stadiums.

Nashville is obviously better for the fans, but if the players prefer the Liberty Bowl, then that is what is important — especially if they feel they have a better chance of winning.

  23. floorgeneral22 Says:

Hey did anyone notice that a supposed “Football Player” from Louisville had to tackle a Rutgers player by his dreadlocks last night???? NO FLAG!!?!?!? I could’ve sworn that would count for horse collaring or something. Or maybe Rutgers was so far ahead the refs just wanted to expediate the inevitable outcome.

  24. floorgeneral22 Says:

And yeah before the trip to Memphis make sure you pack “neutral colors”. You’ll thank me when you get back alive

  25. mac-fu Says:

I love the Blues City Cafe on Beale Street. It’s so good, it’s almost worth the drive down there. I like the casinos nearby too. Should be a lot of fun.

  26. UKNation Says:

15- a 3rd straight bowl game is good. However, the liberty bowl is a bit of a disappointment given
we were in a “control your own destiny” situation. If you would have asked me after Dicky Jr. and
Derrick Locke went down and with a Fr. QB at the helm if I would take the Liberty, I would have said
yes!!!! But 13 makes a great point. As BCG would say… “It is what it is”. Now let’s go kick some C-USA butt!

  27. SlickRick48 Says:

Matt, have you heard the speculation that even with loss East Carolina will be our opponent at the Liberty Bowl? The powers that be are considering a Ball St/Tulsa matchup that would likely have an over/under of 150 points.

  28. floorgeneral22 Says:

26 Is totally correct. Hell, if someone had said 6-6 and bowl bid at the beginning of the year I’m sure most of us would’ve said sounds good.

  29. BLAINE-MAN Says:

    2) We’ll never get that 10 seconds of our lives back

  30. jman3715 Says:

To me, Nashville sounds better (get it). Anyway, who want’s to get beat by UNC twice in one year? Not me.

  31. actiondan Says:

    23) that’s not a penalty bc its legal and considered part of the uniform

  32. SlickRick48 Says:

    30. I think the question was if it was a horsecollar tackle. It is legal to tackle by the hair, but it shouldn’t be from behind.

  33. TheBigBooyah Says:

A bowl game in Beirut would be safer than Memphis.

  34. 7isntenuf Says:

“I’ve seen the bright lights of Memphis, and the Commodore Hotel, and underneath a streetlamp I met a southern Belle.
She took me to the river, where she cast her spell. And in that southern moonlight she sang a song so well.
If you’ll be my dixie chicken, I’ll be your tennesee lamb, and we can walk together down in Dixieland,oh down in dixie land.

We hit all the hotspots, My money flowed like wine.
‘Til that low down southern whiskey, it began to fog my mind.
Well i don’t remeber church bells, or the money I put down,
on the white picket fence and boardwalk,on the the house at the edge of town.
But Lord I do remember the strain of her refrain,
And the nights we spent together, the way she called my name.
If you’ll be my Dixie chicken, I’ll be your tennesee lamb and we can walk together down in Dixieland.
Well It’s been 20 years since she ran away.
Guess that guitar player sure could play.
She always liked to sing along, he was always handy with a song.
Then one night in the lobby of the commodore hotel,
I, by chance met a bartender who said he knew her well.
And as he gathered me a drink, He began to hum a song,
and all the boys there at the bar, began to sing along.
If you’ll be my dixie chicken, I’ll be your Tennesee lamb, and we can walk together down in Dixie land, yeah dixie land.”

I’m not gonna go, but if you happen to see her near the Commodore Hotel, I’d RUN the other way.

  35. ukcatfan88 Says:

26 and 28 are right. A 3rd bowl is more than just the bowl, it’s the extra practice and all of that. 6-6 and a bowl would have been OK with 75% of fans at the start, considering what we lost. That being said, losses to UT, Vandy and the Cocks and a close loss to Bama make me think that with just one or two more guys, we could be in the Outback Bowl at least. Depressing, but a bowl is a bowl is a bowl.

  36. jcb973 Says:

Glad to get invited to any bowl game. Will try not to be featured guest on “The First 48″.
