Good evening my fellow University of Kentucky Wildcat fans! I hope everything is fine and dandy in your life today. I am going to let off a little steam in this post and if you don’t like it, so be it. Everyone writes on this site because they want to. I personally have fun with it and enjoy sparking debate to see others opinions on certain issues. I am not here to win a grammar award or spelling bee so please keep poking fun of my many typos. I know what I write on hear is out of the ordinary for former basketball players but if I wrote what everyone was expecting me to write there would be no debate. I respect the University of Kentucky and its tradition but that doesn’t mean I can’t express my feelings on certain issues regarding the program that I love and still feel part of. So, let’s move on to the first topic at hand.
Michael Porter has taking a lot of heat this year for the amount of minutes he has played at the point guard position. Some criticism has been just taking his performances thus far. However, some actions have just gone too far. During the Miami game I saw something I had never seen before at any sporting event. Our fans (the greatest in all of sports) cheered when Michael Porter was disqualified for committing his fifth foul. And no, it wasn’t a cheer for a job well done while playing, it was a cheer for thank the lord he is out of the game! Wow! For a second I had to look around and see if I was still at Rupp Arena. People I understand most of us think Michael shouldn’t play half the minutes he does but he has no control over that. Coach G is the coach and he makes the decisions on the floor. Is Michael supposed to say coach, umm look people really don’t like me playing so I don’t think it is best for me to go in the game. We label ourselves as the best fans in the country but yet we treat one of our own players like this? This action was classless, rude and disgraceful. If you were one of the few fans who did this you should be ashamed of yourselves.
The Christmas season is here but it feels a little different to the players on the team compared to everyone else. This is a time of continues practice and wearing the same underwear for two weeks straight (j/k). The truth is after finals next week it is like a ghost town around campus with little to do besides practice and spend time your teammates. With everyone gone from campus it feels like boot camp all over again, without twenty hour practice limitations for the week coaches can practice their players as many times as they want for as long as they want. This is a good time for the team to grow together and bond just before entering into conference play. This year is real special considering the players will be practicing on Christmas morning. DeAndre, Darius and the rest of the freshman are used to probably opening up presents and eating turkey on the day of our savior’s birth but this year they will taste their own sweat in practice preparing for Florida Atlantic. The last four seasons everyone was able to go home for Christmas and spend time with their family. I think this should be how it is every season. AD’s and coaches can schedule around Christmas to allow this to happen. My freshman year we played Louisville on the December 27th at Rupp Arena. I remember the feeling being in Rupp practice on Christmas morning. I tell you it just didn’t feel right. There are some things that are just more important and this day is without a doubt one of them.
We have a big-time rivalry game coming up on Saturday and we have a lot of work to do as a team to reach our full potential. Indiana is coming in with less talent than normal but that doesn’t mean anything being a rivalry game. I do feel a little comfort in the fact that any team they have played with any talent they have lost by an average margin of about 26 points. If we get out to a good start at the beginning of this game we will be fine. But if we let Indiana hang around or allow them to get a lead in the first half it could be trouble down the stretch. This is one thing we have struggled with in the past few games. I believe we get out of this funk by creating offense from our defense. Our defense is worlds ahead of our offense right now. When we are up pressuring and playing with aggression on the defensive end we play well. When we allow dribble penetration and open threes we give teams a better chance at putting the ball in the basket making us inbound the ball which slows down our fast break offense. When we create turnovers and defensive rebounds it alleviates the pressure of setting up a half court offense which we are struggling with also. More than likely we will win this game but let’s not take anything for granted considering this still is a rivalry game. The key to the game and for the rest of the season is getting off to a better start so we wont have to expend so much energy fighting back.

Your cousin Oliver is better than Porter, so I say to hell with it. If Porter keeps playing I’ll keep booing!
December 11th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
I agree about Porter.it’s not his fault Jasper left and he was the only guard left who knows the offense……But it’s time for DeAndre to start playing more and Porter to slide to the 2 spot,Thanks for the post Bobby.
December 11th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
While I would never boo any of our players, I do find it sub-good (you liked that) that he continually misses layups..sometimes multiple times in a game.
I wish Patterson could magically get to 100% again.
December 11th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
#4….Maybe I’ll go boo your Mom for giving birth to such an idiot. ..!..

December 11th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
Porter…the only guard left who knows the offense? What offense??? BCG is a good guy, but put in Liggins –he’s our only chance of winning! Let’s blowout IU, win against the weak schoools after that and prepare to battle UofL for bragging rights!!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
Hey Bobby, who split your wig like that??? I don’t remember that one…
December 11th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Cheerleader slapped him…

OH MY GOD is that Pycho Bobby P ?!?!?!
Look at all that blood!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
well we do have some pretty strong cheerleaders
December 11th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Nice post, Bobby…but if I could play devil’s advocate a bit here…….putting Porter’s offensive (in)effectiveness completely aside, my biggest issue with his play is his inability to cover/defend/stop his man in Billy’s pressure man-to-man set. He is continually beat off the dribble by the opposing point - which leads to deep penetration (thats what she said) - defensive rotation/help from wings and/or the middle - kick outs to the W I D E open 3point shooters and………..VIOLA!….we’re in trouble.
You said yourself, “When we allow dribble penetration and open threes we give teams a better chance at putting the ball in the basket making us inbound the ball which slows down our fast break offense.” This is my biggest complaint. I’d rather only see it for 10 minutes a game instead of 30 minutes a game.
You are absolutely right, however, about it being the coaches decision, and not Porters. Spot on. I just don’t understand the thought process.
December 11th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
People who boo and mockingly cheer college athletes are disgraces to their universities.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
14, actually I’ve seen Liggins and especially KG get beat easily much more than I’ve seen porter get beat easy.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Porter needs to play 8-10 minutes a game, period. He’s not being set-up to succeed, in fact he should be pissed at BCG for using him in this manner. The next few weeks are huge for UK if their gonna make noise in the SEC..I hope BCG starts making some logical decisions.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Bobby, I believe the correct word is “here”, not “hear” in the sentence that begins “I know what I write on hear is out of the ordinary for former basketball players”…just had to point that out since your already expecting people to critique your grammar!!!
But all kidding aside, I like your posts and it is very interesting getting the perspective of a former player who has actual experiences to draw from…Keep up the good work and the posts coming!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
#14…AGREE… Porter offers nothing. He should just come into the game to give other guys breathers.
Booing is the only way fans can voice their displeasure for everyone to hear. I think a little booing is a good thing. I’m sure BCG hears it more than he reads this blog.

Strong words from a strong man, Bobby Perry.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Name that movie.
We need to go easy on these guys, they play their hearts out every night even if you don’t think they did. Not to mention it IS Christmas. Imagine not seeing your family because you have to go work your ass off in practice,to play your hardest in a game that will end with people wishing you harm and cheering your exit.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Bob,
Yet again, it seems you have taken a Gillispie-esque stance towards proofreading by utterly ignoring, and even DEFENDING, the deafening cries for the correction of obvious flaws (see Porter). Your gratuitous disregard for typos and complete absence of commas has given my brow quite an ache and has forced me to surrender my heretofore productivity to the drink. Once again, thank you, and I beg yet again that you please employ a one Matt Jones to once-over your work.

I am a Christian and I do not partake in “Chrismas” because it is not Jesus birthday. December 25 has been a special holiday since the Babalonian era of the pagans in which their manifested god Lucifer came unto Nimrod. Everything you do on Christmas has been done thousands of years before Jesus’ birth. The old testament tells us to not take part in these pagan rituals and Jesus says also. Jesus was born sometime before the second week of October and was believed so for hundreds of years after his death. In America it was illegal to practice “Chrismas” and if caught you could be put to death.
What I am saying is if you partake in the activities of Christmas(Chrismas), Easter, Halloween etc you are celebrating Lucifer.

andy katz article on tennessee and kentucky and florida. awesome quote also….
“Tennessee can’t consistently land all the most prized recruits because it competes with Florida and Kentucky, so it has to go a different route from those programs. But there are small victories. Landing Hopson was one of them. Pearl, who is quick to praise the recruiting ability of his top assistants, Jones and Forbes, said that if Kentucky had been a typically dominant Kentucky program the past two seasons instead of undergoing a coaching change, Hopson probably would not be a Vol. “

And by the way, the specific “date” of December 25th wouldn’t have been a “special date” for the Babylonians since the Julian calendar wasn’t yet invented. The Lunar Calendar was employed throughout much of the near east, so call your pamphlet writing pals and tell them to maybe get their facts straight

I have a hard time not laughing when I hear the word Jesus. “because all I see is Farrel running around a track screaming help me baby jesus lol”
December 11th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
#23, don’t bring your weirdness to this site..please.
As far as your wacky comment goes, I seriously doubt the Good Lord gives a damn about what day Christmas falls on. If you’re a true Christian, shouldn’t you celebrate Jesus everyday? And since the 25th of December comprises one of the 365 days a year, I suppose it is fitting to celebrate Jesus’ birth on that day (as well). But honestly, the Old Testament? You can’t possibly take the Old Testament word for word AND still believe in, and try to adhere to, the things Jesus said in the New Testament. Too many contradictions.
Who gives a damn which day people celebrate the birth of Christ? The point is the message, not the day.
Last time I’ll take up religion on this site..sheesh.

December 11th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
I think it is OK to criticize Porter or the coach on-line or on the radio as long as it’s not a personal attack. But booing or applauding his misfortune at a game is not.
I think some of this is pent-up UK frustration from the past 10 years, a run that might be the poorest in UK’s history.
I think Porter gives effort, but just doesn’t have the ability and skills for this level. Not sure what Tubby and Co. saw when the offered him (supposedly first saw him while recruiting Oliver, a teammate).

Can someone at the site help our UK hero with some punctuation? Reads worse than closed caption typed by a one-handed techie.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Good post Bobby. I agree with you on the Porter booing. I was at the game and was ashamed of our fans booing one of our own. I know it is frustration building, but we are not the coach(although the guy behind me thought he was)! Porter gives his all and can’t help it if people think he doesn’t need to be out there. I guess he could refuse to go in like Liggins.
I have been a big fan of UK my whole life. I always support the players during the good or the bad. They are still my team no matter what.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
37- I think it comes down to voicing your opinion with respect. Most of the time it comes down to the choice of words. Saying you believe starting Liggins gives us the best chance to win is a lot different than saying Porter sucks. But what happened at the game was by far the worst offense I’ve heard in a long time. I think the fans are just tired of being a below average team and is taking it out on a poor college kid.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
28 you are correct on the calendar. Celtic calendar ends on Oct 31st the New Year starts on Nov 1st. I urge any of you to prove me wrong about the 25th.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Bobby, let me break it down for you. I was born and raised in this state and basketball is all I’ve ever known. We live and breathe hoops here so you just wouldn’t understand unless you’re from here. I know you played here and I know you think you know how the fans feel etc but you really don’t or else you wouldn’t take up for Porter the way you do. Don’t get me wrong, Porter seems like a GREAT kid but he does not have the talent to play PG at UK. Do you honestly think Porter would start at (or even be recruited by) UNC, Kansas, UofL, Duke etc??? Of course he wouldn’t so what makes UK any different??? Afterall we’re the winningest team ever (but not for long) and the reason we’ve sucked so bad is because of your former coach recruiting players that aren’t what we Kentuckians call “UK material.” Matt will probably ban me for disagreeing with you but the fact of the matter will not change and THOUSANDS of other UK fans agree with me. Porter is not UK material!!! UK used to compete at the highest level but now we’re getting crushed at that level (UNC etc) and we even lost to Gardner-Webb, San Diego and VMI all in RUPP!!!!!! Are UK fans too harsh and do we set our standards too high?? NO we don’t, but we do expect to at least be able to compete at the highest level and we can’t do that with the Tubby recruits, it’s just that simple.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
I think anyone who boos a player on the teasm that he/she cheers for should be punched in the face, there for I say that if you are at Rupp and you see a UK fan booing a UK player shut them up!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Jesus was born sometime in the spring
December 11th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
35. The old Testament is just as important since Jesus came to fufill the promise and uphold the laws Not Make NEW LAWS.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
People work on Christmas day, that’s life. If we treated everyday like Christmas, then I would say you had a point. But one day a year we are suppose to be good to each other, be with family, praise the Lord? That may be better than no days but not by much! What I say is that … Everyday we should be good to each other, the we would be with family everyday because we would all be family, if we praise the Lord everyday then we well … you get the ideal!
Merry Christmas to all, working and not working! … Gman
December 11th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
44: The fans aren’t booing because they hate Porter. The fans have nothing against him personally. We only boo because we happened to pay big money for tickets to a game in which our beloved favorite team is playing and we expect to see pre-NBA talent on the floor. So you might want to reconsider your “punching” offer because 23,000 fans might “punch” back!!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
43. I think you are dead wrong. It is not our god given right to be great. I think this is an attitude that has permeated our fans for too long. Being great is something we earn by being the best fans for whoever is out there working to win. I don’t think you’ll get an argument from me that I wish we had better options talent and experience wise. But the simple truth is what is done is done and the guys we have in there are doing the best they can to claw back. Think of the unforgettables and how highly recruited they were. They didn’t have the talent. They won simply by hard work and heart. And the fans loved and cheered for them because they knew they were giving the best they could- and they were all we had. Everyone talks about the 96 team. And we were great- but the things that laid the ground work for that came years before when the team didn’t have the talent. It’s time we start being respectful supportive fans. Because the world has stopped caring about Kentucky basketball and if we don’t change our ways, I just don’t see that changing.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
48- Are you serious? If the price of admission gives you the right to behave however you want- I’m pretty certain there are other fans willing to pay the “big money” without booing a kid from there own team. I think the world would rather you stay home and spew your ignorance at your 32″ vizio.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
49: You make a good point and yes the “Unforgettables” will never be forgotten but then again, that was a team that only comes along once in a million years. Pitino NEVER had another team like that yet he won it all in 96′ should have won it in 97′ and Tubby won it with Rick’s players in 98. Therefore my point is that heart can only carry you so far. My favorite movie of all time is “RUDY” but he was not good enough to play every snap at that level and neither is Porter good enough to play the kind of minutes he’s playing.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
50: Yes I’m serious and so are about 20,000 other people!!!!! Again we didn’t boo Mikey because we hate him. We booed because he was killing our team. We want to win and we want him to partake in the winning as well but he should only be played about 6-8 minutes per game.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
51- I’m not saying we should build our program around heart. What I’m saying is that being great fans when we are down helps build the momentum for having great talent later on. The guys in 96 saw what Pitino was building and wanted to get on board.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
52. I would rather have Liggins on the floor too-But booing a college kid is bad form for a fanbase. That is the point. And you shouldn’t blame him for your frustration for how far we have fallen. He is doing all he can. That is all you can ask.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
54: I know Porter is doing the best he can but it’s hard to sit and watch him miss layup after layup and turnover after turnover and missed 3pt shots etc. It’s just a hard pill to swallow when you bleed blue!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
52 & 53 you both make great points and you both could be right in your own way?
December 11th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Yeah, Bobby…When did that happen? I don’t remember you getting hit in the face.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
54: Furthermore, from a talent perspective, Porter should have never been here at UK. He was 2 star player coming out of high school and he was 2,000 miles away!!! Same goes for Adam Williams. Do you remember him?? Tubby had all the resources that college hoops can offer yet he (for some reason) signed kids that would never play at UK under Pitino, Gillispie etc. I honestly believe that Tubby Smith signed those kids on purpose to get back at UK for whatever it was that he had against them. Tubby knew he was on his way out so he did as much damage as possible.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
Bobby, I agree with much of what you say. I personally get why Gillispie plays Porter as much as he does, though I don’t completely agree with it, but you can’t blame Michael for it. It’s up to the coach and the other players who might perform better in those minutes.
And like 23 said, Jesus wasn’t actually born on December 25th. That’s just the day the Church decided to adopt for the celebration (I believe it was previously a pagan holiday, and putting a Christian holiday on it just helped in pushing the pagan religion out.)
As for the whole booing thing…”I was saying Boo-Urns”
20) Just an FYI - lots of people work on Christmas and other holidays. Ever go to a video store or restaurant or movie theater on Christmas? Guess what, someone’s working there so you can go.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
#46, just as important? Then please address the glaring contradictions between the OT & NT.
So when one says to do this, but the other says to do the opposite, which are you to believe?
You can’t have both.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
55. Fair enough. I’m not saying it is easy. I find myself screaming at my screen too. I just think a little restraint and respect from our fans goes a long ways. I hate to see our passion be an obstacle rather than an advantage. I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
57) Bobby had a Double-Double that night, and also had to get double-digit stiches, prompting Tubby to say that Bobby had a Triple-Double. (jokingly, of course)
December 11th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
46, 60) The Old Testament was a book of stories and laws for the Jewish people. When Christ was born, he fulfilled several prophecies and initiated the option of salvation, changing many of the laws/truths of the Old Testament. In essence, he vouched for Mankind, reestablishing some of the lost trust between man and God (trust lost in the Fall). When blatantly contradicting eachother, the New Testament trumps the Old Testament, unless you deny Christ. In which case, you should probably be calling yourself Jewish and not Christian, etc.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
How many threads were hijacked by political talk. How can someone complain about a religious hijacking?
Porter issue: Is it bad taste to boo a homer? Maybe. But the fans have a right to boo who they please.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Think about it fellow KSR posters:
Pitino’s Players: Mashburn, Delk, Mohammed, Walker, Mercer, Anderson, Sheppard, Epps, McCarty, Turner etc.
Tubby’s Players: Obrzut, Alleyne, Rekalin Sims, Sheray Thomas, Porter, Adam Williams, Bernard Cote, Saul Smith, etc.
Gillispie’s Players: Patterson, Liggins, Legion, Hood, Orton, Villarino, Euton, Zollo, etc.
My point is, when you have all the resources in the world, why did Tubby recruit (and sign) project players???
December 11th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
23) You are right that the Christmas and Easter are both rooted in Pagan holidays, they have nothing to do with Lucifer. Also, the theory is not that Jesus was probably born in or around May or the early Summer, late Spring, because that was when the masses traveled for the taxes or whatever.
Numerous pagan gods have had their births celebrated on or close to Dec. 25 for thousands of years, as well as their resurrection around the same time as Easter. My question is more along the lines of why were these dates chosen for Jesus’ celebration when they were Pagan celebrations… that just so happened to be for gods with the SAME traits as Jesus?
December 11th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
65. Geeze. Let it go. The point is he isn’t our coach anymore- we have the players we have. They came here because they wanted to be a part of our tradition. You can debate whether they should be on the team- but I just am not sure how it helps anything.
You also left off- Rondo, Bogans, Prince, Azubuike, Crawford for Tubby. Fair and balanced. And yes I can name several players Pitino had on his teams that were lacking in talent.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
I left off Rondo, Morris, Crawford, Bradley, Azubuike etc because those were great players. My point is why did he recruit the NOT SO GREAT ones??? Pitino and Gillispie have NEVER recruited and never will recruit projects.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Baby Jesus doesn’t have a birthday.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
68- I honestly believe that Tubby thought the best way to build a team- was a couple of stars surrounded by role players. Players willing to do the little things on defense- fight for trash points etc. He ran into trouble when the stars he picked up didn’t live up to expectations and or left early- leaving him with a team of role players. I’m not saying it was right or that it worked. I think it was easier to manage a few big egos with a bunch of blue collar players around them. Like I said, it didn’t work- but he wasn’t trying to purposely ruin our program- I am certain of that.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
i just think that Bobby’s post speaks to something that you just don’t find at other schools. we have a great amount of passion and history and former athletes posting on fan blogs just goes to show how great Kentucky basketball really is. we miss you out there Bobby! thanks for posting
December 11th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
67: I gotta roll man. It’s been nice chatting with you and let’s just hope we take care of business on Saturday. I wasn’t aware of this but I just read that IU only has (7) scholarship players so if we lose this one then Billy Clyde’s seat will start getting a very hot sensation underneath!!!!
GO CATS
December 11th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
23. Pagans don’t worship Lucifer. Pagans worship the earth. pretty big difference there.
I would guess you are a Jehovah’s Witness. But you might want to educate yourself a little better before posting stuff like this.
you leave the door open for getting blasted.
December 11th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
65. you flip flop more than any UK fan that I’ve ever seen. first you love Billy, then you blast him, now you love him again.
are you on medication? is so, was it made in a bathtub?
December 11th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
#68, does the name “Oliver Simmons” ring a bell? I believe he was a Pitino recruit…and a failed project. Nazr was also, in Pitino’s own words, “a project,” but one that eventually panned out in the end.

I totally agree with Bobby, It was an absolutely classless move by the UK fans, would I like to see Liggins start, absolutely, but being nasty to a good kid playing his heart out is totally out of line, if you want to boo, boo Gillispie for playing him so much, don’t boo a kid, or cheer him for coming out because he’s doing what he’s told. I’m not oppossed to some booing to voice some displeasure, I’m all for booing someone for not hustling, but booing a player for coming in, or cheering him for going out is classless, Michael never wanted to play the point, he wants to play the 2 guard, but he’s been doing what coach asks. the kid has a lot of heart, and I’ve noticed in the past, he’s been one of the most enthusiastic cheering on the bench, while I don’t agree with his amount of playing time, his attitude is good for the team, and it’s embarassing when other fans act nasty like that.
December 11th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Nasty and classless? For booing Porter. Have you heard some of the stuff said to other ‘kids’ that just happen to be wearing a different uni? As a fan you can boo. If you don’t like it cheer your brains out during the announcing of the starting lineup.
December 11th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
people who boo any wildcat player is classless. They all bust their ass to
try and win games for the Blue and White and if you can’t appreciate that
you’re hopeless. JMHO
December 11th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
So you are not a real UK fan if you boo one of the players? Our only reactions should be silence or applause?

I love everybody, AND YOU’RE NEXT.
Since I celebrate Christmas, Easter, Halloween, St Patty’s day, My birthday, etc. I guess I should say LONG LIVE LUCIFER. We are supposed to love everybody right?
A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

December 11th, 2008 at 9:12 pm

December 11th, 2008 at 9:13 pm

December 11th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Many of you need to look up the definition of fanatic, which “fan” is short for. “one who shows UNCRITICAL devotion…” Sorry folks, you’re NOT UK fans, by definition.

BOBBY SINCE YOUR FRESHMAN YEAR THOSE OF US AT http://www.LEXINGTONFESTIVUS.com HAVE CONTINUALLY EXTENDED INVITATIONS TO THE BASKETBALL TEAM TO COME TO OUR ANNUAL FESTIVUS PARTY WHICH IS EVERY YEAR ON THE 23RD(EXCEPT THIS YEAR DEC.27TH). RAVI MOSS ATTENED HIS SENIOR YEAR SO I FIND YOUR COMMENT THAT CAMPUS IS A GHOST TOWN AND THAT NOTHING IS GOING COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS.
THIS YEAR IS ANOTHER YEAR AND ANOTHER FESTIVUS MIRACLE!!!! PLEASE COME AND JOIN THE CELEBRATION BOBBY.

#43: I’m with you–some people posting on here are like 20 years old. They don’t know the history of the program, the impact on the state–it is our identity in sports. I cannot stand losing games to shitty little schools–it should not happen and to have it happen multiple times in two years is unexcusable!!! We have every right to criticize BCG until he brings us back to where we used to be. If he can do it; I’m not sure at this point.
December 11th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Okay, what is up with the religion in this thresd? Enough of the Bible-thumping shit.
December 11th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
things have changed in the landscape of college basketball. Kentucky, currently, is not a sexy choice like it used to be.
December 11th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I don’t care how hard porter works in practice… He has yet to show anyone (uk fans) anything in any of our games this year that shows he deserves this much playing time. I feel bad for people booing Michael Porter, but he is not a natural point guard or even the caliber player uk needs at the guard position. If he is such a team player and wants what is best for the team then either quit missing wide open lay-ups or ride the pine. He doesn’t even get taken out of the game for stupid turnovers. There is no lessons taught with this whole situation.

#89 nice lol Grammer Fail !

And yes I know “grammar” I was failing at failing on purpose.
F!@# grahmerr
December 11th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
December 25th was the Roman holiday of Saturnalia, praticed all over the empire. The Emperor Constantine, after his conversion to Christianity declared Dec. 25th the birthday of Jesus to stifle the pagan holiday and since he was the man it became the law of the land.
December 11th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
EVERBODY JUST CHILL-OUT…TAKE A DEEEEEEP BREATH AND EXHALE
THEN READ THIS SENTENCE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. IT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO CRY:
“Hello everybody, this is Cawood Ledford, coming to you tonight from Memorial Coliseum on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington as the mighty Wildcats get set to take on the…”
AND THEN WATCH THIS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxFNgJr4bNo
THEN GO TO BED DREAMING of BCG Bringing us Banners 8,9,10, etc. etc.
December 11th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
104.
Will BCG bring banners to the Commonwealth of Kentucky or just shame and disappointment?
The jury is still out on that one.
December 11th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
You just brought shame and disappointment to this comment section. We all know that already.
December 11th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
I am proud to say that I was not one of the people in rupp that booed porter…..although i prefer liggins, i felt that booing one of our players was unproductive and rude…….imagine how that made him feel…..it acomplished nothing really….but anyway, good luck to the cats, and everyone have a great christmas!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
ok i meant cheering for porter, not booing……but you get the point
December 11th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
This is sort of how I watched all these comments just go, mainly those by the guy who thinks he’s entitled to championship banners every other year. I think it was out of the movie Anchorman…
Distraught UK Basketball Fan: Rick, We need you. Hell, I need you. I’m a mess without you. I miss you so damn much. I miss being with you, I miss being near you (and your hair). I miss your laugh. I miss your scent; I miss your musk. When this all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together (on the campus of UofL).
Brian Fantana: Take it easy, Champ (especially on Mike Porter… he’s 21). Why don’t you sit this next one out, stop talking for a while (at least until after Christmas).
December 11th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
lol
December 11th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
103, there were other pagan holidays around that same exact day and time of year that happened to be for the “birthdays” of other gods, just as there were for “resurrections” of other pagans gods around the exact same time of Easter today
December 12th, 2008 at 12:36 am
I pretty much disagree with everything perry writes. he comes off looking like a huge puss every time. Sorry for the harsh comments, its just my opinion. I remember practicing in high school on christmas and other schools around me doing the same. I can also remember local, smaller colleges practicing.
I was not at Rupp to boo Porter. I would have cheered when he fouled out. Nothing against the kid, but i would be cheering his replacement because Porter does not entertain me at all. I do not want to pay money to watch him play. He just isnt very good and physical conditioning aside, wouldnt stand out in most of the pickup games i play in. So yes, I feel I can cheer if he fouls out because my experience that day will be better once he is ineligible to play. Is it gillespie’s fault? YES, it is his fault. Dont really care. Just want to win AND see what I feel is the best quality product on the field.
December 12th, 2008 at 1:51 am
Wow. I never know what to expect on this site. Without jumping fully into the debate, I’d like to offer my opinion that whatever the origins of the holiday, it doesn’t seem like there’s much lucifer celebrating at Christmas. That is, just because I called yesterday “Thursday” that doesn’t mean that I’m a worshipper of Thor. Likewise, I don’t worship Juno when I say that my birthday is in June. That argument seems to me to be extremely weak.
Boo if you want to, but it seems to me that the people that boo need to grow up and accept that life has a lot of disapointment. What is booing going to accomplish? Why ruin some kid’s day over it?
December 12th, 2008 at 1:56 am
Oh yeah. I agree that ADs should schedule around Christmas. Regardless of your feelings about the holiday / Christianity, Christmas should be treated differently simply out of respect for the time spent with family. Why can’t this world today find a moment to catch its breath? The non-stop running of our culture can’t even take a break for a day to spend it with family and friends. Do we really need more basketball??? Is one day centered around giving too much to ask for?
December 12th, 2008 at 7:48 am
Bobby should know how Porter feels
December 12th, 2008 at 8:37 am
Bleeding - I know you think you are helping, but think about when Jesus spoke of the Jews boiling and egg, and another occasion when he was picking grain on the Sabbath (Saturday). All that was BREAKING the old testament law and punishable according to the Pharisee. Please, don’t be a modern day Pharisee, as you can be of great value to the lord, if you change your focus just a bit. God bless.
December 12th, 2008 at 9:12 am
73) Sorry, but while the group of people who call themselves Pagans may worship the trees and earth and all (are you specifically speaking of Wiccans?), Pagan has long been a tewrm used by Christians to refer to non-believers, including Satanists. Furthermore, there are some Christians who feel that worshiping any entity besides God/the Trinity is in fact worshiping the Devil himself.
December 12th, 2008 at 9:23 am
You don’t have to give us the whole guilt trip, Bobby. We know. I turned to my friend at the game and said, “I don’t care if it’s classless, that guy doesn’t belong anywhere near the court. If it takes 5 fouls before Billy realizes it, all the better.”
December 12th, 2008 at 9:54 am
#65 FLAWED. Not being a Tubby nut-hugger but the man also recruited the likes of Zbuike , Hayes, Prince, Bogans, Hawkins, Fitch. His last two seasons recruiting were sub-par but that probably had something to do with the fact he was po’d for getting ridiculed by our fan base that was unhappy with not making the final four. Few people remember the rare feat of going undefeated in SEC play.
More people need to get behind our players and the university and get off BCG’s bandwagon. This guy is starting to act like he is larger than UK with his mind games.
December 12th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Bobby, we always love what you “write on hear”
December 12th, 2008 at 11:16 am
BillyClyde4President is the dumbest, most ignorant commenter to grace this sight ever. And that’s not an easy task.

December 12th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
I think I remember watching a game when fans applauded when Bobby Perry fouled out of a game. I can’t remember which one but I’m pretty sure it happened. It definitely wasn’t the first time I witnessed it.
December 12th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
#122 I LMAO after reading that.
