[Moderated by Matt Jones]

It is very late and I have been distracted tonight, so just a few quick notes…..
(1): To the extent that there is news today, it comes from Micah Johnson’s Facebook status, which reads:
Micah Johnson got a 3rd-5thrnd grade easily early 3rd with good work out! BUT Im still commin back! i will help make history! BCS in 09!Imma b the best LB in the country!!
If you believe Facebook status (and why wouldnt you), it is a good sign for a Micah return.
(2): KC Ross-Miller comes to town this Saturday night, playing in a high school game at Memorial Coliseum. Lexington Catholic plays at 6:30 and then Ross-Miller and his boys play at 8 pm. A good chance to see the future Cat up close and personal and get your own read on his ability after the UK-Vandy game.
(3): Former Cat Dermontti Dawson was named a Hall of Fame finalist today. Along with 9 other guys, Dawson has the potential to be put into a class that could include guys Cris Carter, among others. Dawson is a great and often forgotten member of UK’s football past and I am pulling for him to get the honor.
(4): If you watched the Arkansas-Texas game tonight, you may have very well felt like you were watching a Kentucky contest. John Pelphrey of course coaches the Hogs (with a bright red jacket), and three of the top 6 guys in the rotation nearly came to Kentucky, with Courtney Fortson, Rotnei Clarke and Michael Sanchez. Fortson especially looks impressive, leading the Hogs to victory as a Freshman point guard. It will be interesting to see how the two teams look when they play in Fayetteville later this year.
More all day today as we have an interview with a former Cat by Beisner, a look at the Vandy game coming Saturday and more nonsense. Stay tuned….

After Dawson we went a while without a great player on the field then came Moe Williams and then Tim Couch…point is, Dawson was an impact guy and this would be great for out program if he does get inducted

All I can say is when UK plays Arkansas, they are gonna have to beat them. That will really help the RPI since they have taken out Oklahoma and Texas. I’m glad they are doin it big for the SEC. And good to hear Micah Johnson is staying, I’m sure Jarmon does as well and I really hope Lindley will, but we will see about that.
January 7th, 2009 at 1:22 am
Patterson is pictured on the front page of ESPN’s college b-ball page. I don’t have insider, so I can’t tell what it is about.
January 7th, 2009 at 1:29 am
3- hopefully they’ve realized what a stud he is.
January 7th, 2009 at 1:36 am
What I observed was that the Arkansas new guys did not seem nervous, fearful or to be indecisive under the pressure playing against the number 7 team and they also just beat number 4 Oklahoma last week.
January 7th, 2009 at 1:38 am
Why the hell was Purdue so hyped? Couldn’t the so called “experts” see in the summer that they only have one big man and he is a raw sophomore, they lost again, this time to Penn St.
January 7th, 2009 at 1:39 am
Joe Lunardi looks like a fu<kin hobbit. Last four in…kiss my ass troll.
January 7th, 2009 at 1:40 am
I remember sanchez but not fortson how close were we to getting him?
January 7th, 2009 at 1:48 am
Patterson goin up against Michael Washington will be one hell of a matchup.
January 7th, 2009 at 1:54 am
When will Bama fire Gottfried (sp?) they gave up a late 12-0 run to choke away what would have been another big win for the SEC over undefeated Clemson… Now that guy can’t coach for real!
Way to go Pelphrey, we’ll keep the seat warm for ya.
January 7th, 2009 at 1:57 am
10- i think Gottfriend, Jeff Lebo at Auburn, and Felton at Georgia are all out at the end of the year. SEC cleanin some more house. lol
January 7th, 2009 at 2:18 am
While you have to admire Micah’s enthusiasm, even if virtually unintelligible, UK has no shot in hades at playing in a BCS game next year. None, zero, nada. Personally, I just hope we win 2 games in conference next year and roll through our easy non-conference schedule to become bowl eligible again.

speaking of facebook, i just got ncaa 09 for xbox, and i took screenshots of all our players doing what they do best.

13, in the last picture w/ gillispie and the team, is the player sulking on the end of the bench looking completely disinterested 34 or 54? Cus it would be perfect if that was 34.

12)bubba n earl? must be Louisville lovers watching things from behind bars…Keep packing the fudge guys as your daily workout routine the ‘Cards will be calling on your services soon, in more ways than one..
January 7th, 2009 at 7:06 am
That mop on top of Fortson’s head would never be tolerated at UK.
January 7th, 2009 at 7:32 am
Is no one else a little nervous about playing Arkansas?!?!? That is TWO BIG wins over two VERY GOOD teams. They play a style of basketball that does not match up well w/ the cats. High tempo, 3-point shots, pressure D, and have a solid big down low. We couldn’t handle McClinton and the Canes or the wanna-be G’s from Louisville… I think that it is gonna be a great game and that the SEC is not as far down as all the talking heads on ESPN say that it is. GO CATS!!!!

thanks Mr. Rupp (#16)

I hope UK can start to see some success against big time teams like other teams that have their new coaches: Arkansas - wins over Texas and Oklahoma. Minnesota - Wins over Ohio State and Louisville. Michigan - wins over Duke and some one else big (can’t remember). Wake Forest - undefeated, ranked in top 10. Oklahoma - only 2 losses, top 10. Purdue - Top 20 team. Xavier - Top 20 team. Arizona State - top 20 team. It sucks to see other teams doing very well with new coaches and UK still not in the top 45. And most of these other schools were as bare as UK. What’s up with that?
January 7th, 2009 at 8:15 am
Wow. We shoulda hired Pelphrey.

I, honestly, was hoping Pelphrey would get the nod after Donovan turned it down. I didn’t think he would due to lack of experience at the time. I am happy with Coach BCG and look forward to a good run with him. If and when, his time is done, then it will be Pel or Ford taking the reins at UK! Until then lets root on Coach BCG and the HOGS when they aren’t playing UK!
January 7th, 2009 at 8:33 am
Micah returning is GREAT!!
I completely felt like I was watching a Wildcats game last night., I even found myself clapping and really getting into it. What a great game by Pelphrey and the hogs.
January 7th, 2009 at 8:48 am
Love seeing Pelphrey do well. However, I must say that was some nice scheduling by the Arkansas folks. Only 2 away games thus far (1 of which was the only loss…at Missouri State). Sure wish our game was at Rupp this year. We’ll see if Pelphrey can keep these young guys focused throughout the SEC schedule.
January 7th, 2009 at 8:57 am
UK has only played 2 away games, as well. The rest were neutral or home.

hah..thats sad I said that

Yelp, but I wasn’t comparing schedules. Arkansas has not had to travel since Thanksgiving. UK has been to Chapel Hill, Las Vegas, and Louisville. Right now you would have to say going to Fayetteville will be ultra tough for UK. But a lot can happen between now and then. It would be hard for me to believe Arkansas would have fared better than UK at NC and UL.
Good news for UK football with UGA players leaving early: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=3815504
January 7th, 2009 at 9:21 am
SEC > Big 12. Congrats to Pel, he is early favorite for National COY, and the hogs didn’t even play that great last night. I believe it was %38 from the field, much worse from 3 point land. I don’t want to go to Fayetteville to play them, but I do believe we can go there and get the W.
January 7th, 2009 at 9:29 am
Pelphrey for coach at Kentucky (even Liggins would like HIM)…Jamal Mashburn as his assistant coach…it came to me in a dream last night…right after my dream of stepping on Christian Laetner’s chest with a pair of golf cleats. Note to self: quit eating Taco Bell food right before bedtime.
January 7th, 2009 at 9:34 am
Arkansas will stomp Tennessee MACON!
January 7th, 2009 at 9:40 am
I’m not sure if anyone’s noticed yet, but ASOB has a good set of turnover statistics today.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A plane carrying Louisville’s basketball team to a game in Florida returned to the airport after the pilots received a fire warning that turned out to be false. A spokeswoman for the airline operating the Cardinals’ flight said the plane was at about 10,000 feet and less than 10 minutes into its flight Tuesday when a warning message in the cockpit indicated a fire on board.
January 7th, 2009 at 9:53 am
6-Hummel was out for Purdue, there best player
January 7th, 2009 at 9:54 am
I like BCG, but his worst nightmare is Pelphrey’s instant success!!
January 7th, 2009 at 10:10 am
ok, we’ll see #31. It’s in Fayetville, so that’s working against us. UT should have killed UK last year, and lost at UK and barely won in TBA. That’s why they play the game. Also, I get all kinds of grief about this being a UK only board, but there sure is a lot of Arky love on here. I don’t care if foul mouth Pel went to UK, he’s the Ark. coach.
Funny, you have a coach that is supposed to lead you back to the promised land (as I heard OVER and OVER on this board after you all made the tourney last year), but many of you have already appointed his successor?? Wow.
January 7th, 2009 at 10:11 am
Speaking of draft Stafford and Moreno are expected to announce they are going soon …….. Good Luck Stafford, as for Knowshon all I can say is WHO DEY!!!!
January 7th, 2009 at 10:13 am
Yes macon vol fan you are right. We have already appointed his successor. We are very fickle.
January 7th, 2009 at 10:15 am
35-My thoughts exactly. I’m a BCG supporter, but Pelphrey’s success is just magnigying the pressure on BCG to get it done.
January 7th, 2009 at 10:16 am
*magnifying
January 7th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Just to stir up trouble I think we should start this big media blitz of how Kentucky fans want Pelphrey for coach. Might be fun to see if the story goes national. And we could all blame Matt Jones if it puts our fanbase in a negative light.
January 7th, 2009 at 10:24 am
#41 lol!
January 7th, 2009 at 10:31 am
Macon, we love you and your abs! But what you do not understand is that the UK fan base is not really what it seems on this or any other blog. There are positive fans that support the current regime regardless if it is OTS or BCG. We do love Pelphrey because of his HEART that he played with in Lexington, and someday if the opportunity arises, he may be the next coach, but most of us are content with Gillispie! We do however despise all things BRUCE PEARL!!!
January 7th, 2009 at 10:51 am
if Pelphrey hangs a banner for the filthy hogs (or gets close) and UK is still chalking up 10 loss seasons due to “gettin whipped” then its time to make our own “cat call”. WHOOOOO JOHHHNN PELPPPPHRREEYYY HAAA HAAA HAAA.
January 7th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Matt, apparently kc ross-miller will be playing against catholic on Friday at 4PM according to coach miller on TCP. That will be the game to watch.
January 7th, 2009 at 11:22 am
hey guys, the tournament kc is playing in is going to be online at wazoosports.com (i work for them). not sure of the game times, but the guy above me just said 4pm.
January 7th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
10, so you think Gottfried is done at the end of the year? One of the Cincy Enquirer columnists is saying that it’s going be tough for the ‘Cats to go at Georgia and Alabama to win. I know the columnist fairly well, but have to disagree with him on this one.
