Florida Wins the Title…..and Tebow Becomes a Deity Notes

by @ 12:45 am. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

I really am glad Florida won. I like the SEC and enjoy when its football dominance has been proven. But I cant take any more Tim Tebow for some time. When the Fox announcer claimed that the Unsportsmanlike penalty was the “first thing Tebow has ever done wrong”, I got a text from the Turkey Hunter that said the announcer would next say that Tim would “walk on the Gatorade bath.” Yes Tebow is talented and fun to watch, but the announcers truly make me hate him.

Four quick things….

(1) Micah Johnson will hold a press conference today at 2:30 to announce he is coming back officially. Facebook wins again.

(2): The FB recruit that Kentucky Sports Report reported as being committed to UK was not actually committed to the school. Two television stations ran with the report…..way to do the research folks. The internet now drives television and radio news…amazing

(3): KC Ross Miller will play Saturday night in Lexington at LEXINGTON CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL (I had incorrectly said Memorial Coliseum) at 8 pm. Catholic plays before at 6:30 pm. Great chance to see the level of play of KC, who has gotten reviews all over the map. I shall be there to check out the festivities.

(4): Vandy comes to town Saturday. The Cats HAVE to win and I assume they will. Looking forward to the Patterson vs Ogilvy matchup. If you dont remember what that is like, watch the video below (with Gus Johnson commentary):

Finally, we will have a big day today on the site….SEC previews, Bobby Perry on the Cats, a Know Your Enemy on the ‘Dores and an update on the internet rumors that have pervaded the last few weeks. Stay tuned….

That wasn’t as bad as when the sportscaster said, “anyone who spends five minutes with tim tebow is a better person for it.”

    PUKE!!!!

  2. lobstersky Says:

    aka…he is jesus

  3. GoCats2010 Says:

I’ve got nothing but respect for the guy

he’s not the one shoving tim tebow down our throats…that would be espn

  4. BillyClyde4President Says:

Tebow is “THE” standard for all college athletes and for all other people as well. It is truly amazing to see such a young kid (who has unlimited access to the hottest chics in the country) proclaim his true love, GOD!!! I too am a Christian and I support Tebow all the way!!

PS: And #2, That’s not even funny.

  5. Todd_Svobodas_Lunchbox Says:

^^ Just made me throw up in my mouth a little :(

  6. Steve Jobs Says:

Don’t hate the player, hate the media, err, game.

  7. HanOfTheBluegrass Says:

Tebow is probably a pretty nice guy. He gets fired up in games, and plays with a passion we all wish all our team’s players played with. But I am so sick of announcers deifying him. It’s not quite as bad as the Psycho-T whorship (I particularly dislike it because T commits so many uncalled fouls that of course it seems like he’s all effort), but it’s pretty bad. If he comes back next year, I expect he could lose 3 games and they’d still name him the frontrunner for the Heisman.

Any chance UK could hire Gus Johnson away from the new contract he signed to be our full time game caller? Whoever does our games has to have him on the team? Man, he can make any game sound exciting, and it’s great to listen to him call a tourney game, or a big game like the UK-Vandy one. He just seems to really love the game, like Dookie V, and that’s great for college basketball. Further, unlike Dookie V, Gus doesn’t seem to show any bias towards one team or another. Rather, he seems to get excited when either side makes a great play or a great run or creates a great story (like an upset). Probably my favorite announcer out there. Sorry Kyle Macy, Tim Couch and Rob Bromley.

Demling’s blog says the staff will also be checking out K.C.’s teamate Josten Thomas a 6′7″ 225 pound senior who is origanlly from Georgia, he already has 19 double-doubles and has scored 30 or more 3 times this season. K.C.’s dad said the staff watched him practiced earlier in the week and said quote “They fell in love with him.”

8- yeh i watched that once, i think there is 4 parts to it. Pretty good stuff.

  12. boonedl Says:

I literally thought Tebow was going to sprout wings and ascend in to the Heavens after the last play. He would then take over St. Peter’s job by popular vote and only let uncircumcised martyrs through the gates.

  13. gorbe ye abi Says:

Anyone think the Gators still miss Spurrier? lol

  14. ukwillshinen09 Says:

I am happy to remember this Vandy game. It is like Coach G’s coming out party. This is when we began to see what quality of coach he was, what he was about, and what he could do. This and the first Tennessee game gave me hope that the season could be salvaged. And it was. Go Cats!

  15. ukwillshinen09 Says:

However, as we move forward to the Vandy game, I hope that all are remembering the 2nd game last year. That was a stunner. That shocked. That was humbling. 52-93 - ouch! A 41 point smashdown. Worse loss in SEC play ever for the Cats I believe. That was like trying to rock climb the Devil’s Tower and getting part way up and suddenly someone above you is dropping big rocks on you. In agony and pain down you go again. That guy (team) that dropped those rocks - that event needs to be directly addressed. I don’t ever want to lose to Vanderbilt again! As I recall Stallings tried to run up uP UP the score. I don’t ever, ever want to lose to Vanderbilt again!! The game was decided, but he put his starters back in to draw more blood. I don’t ever, ever, ever want to lose to Vanderbilt again!!! Go Cats! Go - Go - Go; Go CATS! REDEEM OUR PRIDE. Go Cats!!!

  16. dennisfeltonsmustache Says:

KC Ross-Miller also plays in an exhibition game today at 4:30 at Lex Cath if anyone is interested in skipping out of work early to watch

  17. monstermash1 Says:

If I see Tebow and that god forsaken ‘jump pass’ one more time I think I will be sick.

  18. Meeksismybabydaddy Says:

I think Gillispie should show the 41pt loss game to them right before we play them at their place to motivate them and show them that this should never happen again!

  19. matt s Says:

maybe Oklahoma and Ohio State should play each other every year in a bowl game called the Overrated Bowl. That way they don’t screw some other school out of a chance to play for the national title and one of them is guaranteed a bowl win each year.

  20. Dion_James Says:

if you spend 10 or 15 minutes with Tebow…your life will be changed for the better.

I threw up a bit after hearing that.

  21. westcoastukfan Says:

I think Tebow is being set-up folks, let’s hope he doesn’t make any mistakes in life. The media would crucify him.

  22. westcoastukfan Says:

A message to the Cats: Kick the sh*t out of Vandy–41 points. Just keep thinking that…41 points…

  23. matt s Says:

What’s funny is republicans feel the same way about the media and its portrayel of Obama. Obama could do no wrong in the eyes of the media like Tebow.

  24. RodStiffington Says:

    4) No, its not funny. But not for the reason you think.

Ross-Miller shooting 62% from three this season

  27. jzoneblue Says:

I believe that is correct. Tebow is only human and the media will be waiting to point that out the first chance they get. He does carry himself with class and decency, which should be commended.

  28. flipisatrip Says:

27 are you shitting me man, all the media does is praise Tebow. His religious bs makes me sick. Im so glad he is not at UK b/c if he was i wouldn’t be able to watch football for 3-4 years. You can be religious and all, thats cool i guess, but jesus, don’t put it in my face like that.

  29. UKCatFan01ABC Says:

28, How’s Tebow putting religion in your face? I think I could handle his religion if he played at UK the same way he has at FL.

  30. barkley25 Says:

Just logged on this morning and after reading all comments on this post, can’t understand why Tebow is getting ripped so hard! There is a double standard here somewhere. Just because Tebow chooses to take a stand and use his Faith as a positive, people seem to rip him for it. Why?? How many sports figures do you know of that are a positive influence? I’m not sure either, but I can think of a lot more that are not. The media likes him, and I understand that they praise him a lot. I even think it’s a bit much. But to crucify (and yes, I used that word sarcastically on purpose) him for something he has no control over is just plain wrong. Congrats to the Gators on a great season.

  31. TheFutureMrsGillispie Says:

The clip of the Vandy game was AWESOME!!! I also enjoyed the practice clip of Texas A&M. Billy G is so HOT when he’s coaching!

  32. LizzieB Says:

Matt, have you seen Micah Johnson’s latest Facebook status (the true news source)? It says “Micah Johnson jus got great news from his boi!!! ITS GOIN DOWN NEXT YR!!”. People have freaked out asking if it’s Jeremy Jarmon or Trevard Lindley. I know it’s more likely Jarmon, but one can hope :)

  33. Grits Gurgler Says:

#4 - BillyClyde4President - Don’t you have to give up meth and the Billy Donovan waffle house routine to be a Christian?

Sounds like an invite for Billy G! Please don’t distract the man during the season.

  36. Thomas Beisner Says:

I am a Christian and I think Tim Tebow can suck it. I’ll respect his good deeds but as long as he’s wearing orange and blue, he can suffer a miserable existence between the white lines. That goes for every other Christian, Muslim or Jewish player that doesn’t have “UK” on his helmet.

  37. 081305 Says:

“Anything but Gatorade” reminds me of Billy Mays

  38. barkley25 Says:

  41. Steady Says:

The Fox announcers made this game very boring. They should stick to baseball.

  42. Miller Time Says:

How bout a new post I’m tired of this Tebow crap!

  43. Anything but Gatorade Says:

@ 081305: It beats deli meat and calendars.

I’m almost positive that a sports blog is not the proper place for religious debate. These things are much better suited to insulting people we’ve never met and divining the future of 17 year old boys..

  44. 081305 Says:

Fox announcers were horrible. The one dude should be fired for his Tebow love affair. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard during a ballgame.

  45. 081305 Says:

Anything But Gatorade: no offense..I actually admire your belief in your own product..not sure if this is the proper venue, but admire your attitude

  46. Miller Time Says:

Breaking news: Fox announcer fired after groping Tebow at post-game celebration.

  47. jzoneblue Says:

Both media darlings to this day, John Kennedy and Martin Luther King with both adulterers. Kennedy was addicted to pain killers, and King’s language would make a sailor blush. Sounds vaguely familiar…

  48. UKCatFan01ABC Says:

It’s the media that makes Tebow out to be God personified that irritates me, not Tebow himself.

Can we talk about something else? New post please. Pics of the vandy cheerleaders, a drunk vandy chick, anything.

  49. barkley25 Says:

I agree. Can we change the subject please??
    NEW POST!
    NEW POST NOW! ha ha

  50. drewky Says:

“Did you hear the Good News? Tim Tebow won his second National Championship using girt, determination, four kinds of leadership and a form of mind control that he learned while uniting the Philippines.

According to Fox announcer Thom Brennaman—and if you don’t agree with him, you must be some kind of deranged lunatic—Tim Tebow just may be the finest human being to ever live on this planet or any other. If fact, Thom Brennaman himself felt like little more than a puny insignificant speck in the fearful presence of Tim Tebow’s greatness. Of course, Tim Tebow is made of such generous spirit and delicious candy that he cured Brennaman of his fear (and his adult acne), making him feel completely at ease and joyful simply by performing a Gator chomp with Tebow-esque hands.

Yes, it was Tim Tebow who healed fellow teammate Percy Harvin’s ankle and then willed him to 122 yards rushing on nine carries. It was Tim Tebow’s idea to deny Sooner running Chris Brown at the goal line on fourth down. I’m pretty sure he used some sort of levitation magic to keep Sam Bradford’s pass bouncing in the air long enough for Major Wright to intercept it. It was his hand that reached down from the heavens to block a 49-yard field goal attempt late in the third quarter. And, despite letting Oklahoma stay in game out of compassion and sportsmanship, it was Tim Tebow who leapt over an Oklahoma wide receiver to snatch away an fourth-quarter interception and turn the game in the Gators favor. (Wait, that was Ahmad Black. Funny that the game story didn’t mention that, but I’m sure it was the revelation of Tim Tebow perfect bone structure that encouraged Black to do it.)

Yes, Tim Tebow threw two interceptions of his own, but that was just pure unadulterated leadership. I, for one, feel like a better person for simply having watched that football game last night. He makes me want to be a better football fan.”

Leave it up to deadspin to hit the nail directly on the head.

  51. AppalachianWonder Says:

Could Fox not find ANYBODY else to call that game last night? Those guys were awful. You’d think networks would bring their A game for a national championship, but you have those two (I don’t even know their names) on Fox and Nantz and Packer for the last 20-some odd years at the Final Four. Thank God the long night of Packer is over…let’s hope this year is an upgrade.

  52. Steady Says:

I believe Darius Miller will be an 8 to 10 point scorer in the SEC this year. He is ready to bust loose, starts with the Vandy game.

  53. barkley25 Says:

    Absolutley class-less. terriible………

  54. barkley25 Says:

    I meant #50………

  55. Grits Gurgler Says:

I wonder if Tebow can help all the fat Americans learn what gluttony is.

  63. cmulberry Says:

(TOPIC 2) - Funny that you criticize the local news channels, because the only reason KSR reported of a new commitment in the first place is they were copying a story from Tirey over on Catspause and misinterpreted the title.
