The list for the midseason 30 candidates for the John R. Wooden Award was released this week and the pride of Orestes and Margaret was among those still being considered to be named the nation’s best basketball player. Meeks was one of nine players to be named to the midseason thirty who were not among the pre-season 100 players named to the Wooden watch list. The group will be trimmed to 20 early in March and then will be cut down to a 10-player Wooden All-American team later in that month, before the Player of the Year is determined in April.

McNeal is losing ground to T-Wizzle in the Lowe’s Poll. Has our fan base lost its punch to sway Polls much like our team?

not even going to be close to getting it, rightfully so. Meeks is a good player but not that good.

he’ll make the cut for top 20…needs to step it up a lil for a top 10 finish………what up flip??

Having Meeks in such good company as Sam Young, Greg Monroe, Taj Gibson among others is amazing. Not really. If he keep making the cuts then I’ll care. I have very little respect for this list because it has names of way too many people who dont come close to belonging.

Patterson is having a better season than AT LEAST 1/3 of those people.

I certainly hope that Mr. Williams was actually listed as T-Wizzle. That would be great.
February 7th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
Patterson should have made the list. Better than several on that list.

Congrats to Jodie. I wonder who was the last U.K. player to be in contention for Player of The Year honors?
February 7th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
How is Patterson not on that list???
That’s ridiculous.

1. Patterson should be on that list, too bad it’s so political
2. Vaught is right, UK HAS TO BEAT UF. If not, hello NIT.
3. Being a must-win, and seeing how it worked so well for the UT game, can we PLEASE have a GATOR HATER DAY!?! PLEASE!!! Do it for the Cats.

T-Wizzle can’t shoot. hard to play in the NBA if you can’t shoot. Riding the pine might be something for him to do though…

14) Every mock draft has him going much higher than Meeks.
His three point percentage is also over 40%.
February 7th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
Looking at that list, Patrick should definitely be on there as well.
February 7th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
15. Idiot. T Won’t is in the ‘09 draft and Meeks in listed in ‘10, so yeah I guess he’s getting drafted before him… one year before him to be exact.

What is it with Tyler Smith and these voters? I’ve heard how great he is since he left Iowa, but just don’t see it. Maybe their scared that he’ll smoke them in a drive-by.
