(2) Marc Maggard - It’s been a while since we had a good old fashioned Maggard day, but fret not, it is here. One of the most frustrating figures to ever smack talk on the internet, he’s been annoying Kentucky fans for what seems like forever. Of course, he also works for a website that is far and away more popular than ours, unless you pay attention to, you know, actual data. Seriously, Marc is a, um, seasoned scout and great evaluator of talent. Sorry, I couldn’t even keep a straight face after I wrote that. When not annoying Bruce Pearl, Maggard and his fans patrol the interwebs, crouched in nerd-pounce position, looking for anything even remotely non-complimentary of the frosted one. In fact, all three of them will probably be here soon to make our day. We can only hope they show up to correct us in all fields where we are failures and they are experts. Like, how to be jackholes on the internet.

However, I’m mailing this one in because I don’t personally dislike Mr. Glover and because he’s up against Maggard, and the easier I take it on Glover, the worse it makes the tips look. And you all thought I didn’t have a plan.
So, by this point, you know to vote in the poll and comment in the comments. To be fair, however, Maggard reported six weeks ago that he indeed was the winner of this matchup. See, for only $9.99 a month, you could have known the news we’ll all know for free tomorrow, today! Have fun people.

I know that this site has a rather lengthy history with Marc Maggard… and I remember fondly reading and laughing at the nerd wars. So he’s going to win going away, and I’m okay with that. But I do want to say a word about Larry Glover. I haven’t lived in Lexington in a few years, but I can remember in the evenings when I would get off work and the Legends would be playing on 1300. Larry, doing the play by play, didn’t really give much small talk between the pitches, and at least at that time did not have a color commentator. There were times when the dead air would go on so long that I had to check to make sure my radio was on. Larry’s Legends broadcasts were some of the most excruciatingly bad radio broadcasts I have ever heard. When Chris Cross’ show butted up against a Legends game, sometimes I just wanted to stab my ears with pencils.

I can’t believe that Mr. Negativity, Larry Glover isn’t getting more attention. If you don’t know what I’m talking about just listen to his radio show on your drive home from a game. After the Florida game which was a big win on an heroic last second shot, all Glover could talk about was how bad BCG’s halftime interview was.

say what you will in regards to marc maggard personally but in terms of providing accurate, quality info i would, without a doubt trust his opinion over yours. i know the business of college basketball very well and i know who he is. you on the other hand…who are you? some computer goof that puts together a bunch of borrowed info for the masses to read. i have no problem with that but let’s call a spade a spade. he knows what he’s talking about and you have no clue. i think that is a pretty fair assessment. i have nothing against your site, never seen it before today, but you shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as maggard when it comes to providing serious info about basketball in general or recruiting. i am waiting for the first guy who questions me after this comment, so come strong because i will.

Educated businessmen know if you have a product for sale it doesn’t matter how good it is (hypothetically… I mean really) if it’s presented by a prick.
Some businesses fail, some succeed. He’s in the way of anything he’s pushing gaining mass appeal.

(1): The most important tidbit on the news scene today is the status of the ankle of one Patrick Patterson. Today was not a hugely positive day for Patterson’s status on Saturday as the realization began to set in that it was possible he could miss the Tennessee game. Since the injury against Florida, most had pointed to the Tennessee game (and its “must win” status) as the likely return and that is still the hope of everyone involved. However his healing has been a little bit slower than expected and his action in practice has been a bit more limited than I think most of the folks around UK had hoped. There is likely to be no announcement about his status until game time and it may still be the case that the best bet is that he takes the court. But what seemed like almost a certainty just a few days ago is now back up in the air.

I’d suggest that if you are somehow turned off by someone who responds to crappy posts and defends himself, well, you are probably the type of poster we’d end up banning anyway. TrueBlueKentucky is not trying to become TCP. We don’t want “as many as we can get”. We’ll be happy by taking the cream of the crop. The wikipedia Glover page is one of the funnier things that I have seen in a long, long time. Whoever did that deserves some major kudos.
As for Marc, I have told him for a long time that he should have a better sense of humor about everything and that if he did, he would be much better off. As for those who come over here to tell how great Marc’s site is, there is no need. I honestly dont begrudge Marc for charging money and making it. This is America and if people want to pay it, more power to them.
We do things differently over here and it is a different philosophy. I think ours is better, just as I am sure Marc thinks his is better. The one thing I dont accept is people who come over here just to blast us and expect me to allow that. I havent in the past and I Wont in the future. I think Marc adheres to that philosophy on his site as well, and it is at least one thing we do agree on.

As for the guy who claims to be a college basketball coach…..I am not going to embarass the guy and call him out publically, but he forgot that he registered with this site with his work email address and the school for which he works. Lets just say that unless 6-8th graders are now considered to be in college, he needs to just drop it.

I’ve got a great sense of humor about stuff, Matt. The only things I don’t like is when I’m misquoted….other than that, have at it. You don’t see me complaining about being on your poll…I plan on winning the thing!
Heck if blasting is an issue…I’ll ban every member who blasts you on my site if you’ll do the same…lol. I guarantee you there is a ton more “maggard blasting” over here than there is “jones blasting” at True Blue…. we just don’t pay a lot of attention to it, honestly. I haven’t posted here in a long time till today….

Matt, Jaiden coached at a number of colleges before taking a leave to be with his wife and newborn son. I assure you, he has very good credentials as a college basketball coach. He’s just taking family time, which I respect.

lol…I work with lots of college coaches…. EVEN DUKE…oh wow…what a surprise…. a college basketball scout who has clients that aren’t UK. I wouldn’t say I’m “friends” with Bruce, but I like the guy. We talk everytime we see each other… he’s a lot of fun to watch a game with.

I dont mind your folks blasting me over there…..I havent been to your site in a long time and I learned long ago that trying to get people to stop saying negative things about me at this point is fruitless. I never would have imagined anyone would have an opinion about me one way or the other that didnt know me….but we have already crossed that boundary, so I just do my thing and dont worry about it.
As for the (now) “former coach”, the point is that the guy works at a middle school…..I am not going to call him a college basketball expert.
As for what Marc does or does not do…..as with most things in the world, the truth is in my view, in the middle. Marc is more involved in college basketball than many who dont like him think he is and is much less important than he himself thinks he is. The thing that makes Marc a target to many has nothing to do with either…..it is the way in which he has conducted himself on message boards over the last few years. I do sense that he is actually getting better….but it would have been hard to get worse.

It has been a very long time since I have commented on this site. However, I enjoy reading both KSR and TBK (the free part). I get my daily fill from both sites and enjoy them both. As a middle aged man, I enjoy the comedy of KSR along with the daily morning information. I enjoy TBK for it’s factual information. I think we can all co-exist and there are many of us out there that enjoy both sites…..thanks.

Oh…I was not implying that KSR was not factual….you are and alot of your information has proven true..it seems that with young players and recruiting, the information you get is as accurate as it can be at the time you actually get the info and it can change quickly. If we all keep that in mind, then we will be okay. Thanks again for providing this to all of us.

To the guy that claims KSR incorrectly reported Patterson’s UT game Status: UKAthletics did not give a definitive answer to his status and Matt said that his status was not known as everyone expected to hear something by then. Not sure what your problem is. I can see why Matt would be annoyed by this.

1) they blast u over at TBK CONSTANTLY Matt (just telling u that since you haven’t been there in a while)… doesnt matter if they are having a contest or not. There is rarely a MM comment on this side other than to point out what a fraud he is.
2) who would believe that someone is actually “paid” to scout (even for a school like UT) when he acts the way he does on line and admits to using drugs? NO D1 school in the country would touch him with a 10 foot pole!!!!!! Of course maybe its the 10 foot pole that frosty likes so much

Jaiden is a high school assistant. He “is not” a college coach as maggard claims. Is implies that he is currently a college coach. He “is” not. he is a high school . He took the job because he thought he could piggy back some players to a d-1 job. Maggard has trouble with the truth and this is another example. He might have coached naia at one time. That means he “was” a college coach. But to say he “is” a college coach is a total fabrication…
I used to go to uk. I graduated so I don’t go there anymore. So, I don’t say I am and other people don’t say gocats go is a student. They say he “was”….

I have been members of MM site and this one. I ended my time on MM site because of the way he carries himself when on a message board. I became tired of the way he handled himself on the Cats Pause board. He would say in one breath, I will not respond to childish attacks and then turn right around and do so with LOL at the end of every commnent.
For me to pay 10 dollars a month, I have to respect the source of the information I am getting. When a man that runs a business says he does not want as many customers as he can honestly have is amazing to me. I always get the feeling Marc that you never left your teen years.
This site has humor, intelligence and has no problem making fun of itself. I no longer visit MM site or the Cats Pause and make this site my first and only message board site for Wildcat information.
I like my info with a healthy dose of Mad Magazine.

I found TBK from this site about 2 yrs ago. Once I found
“real” info I stayed. MM provides the best information
concerning UK BB and recruiting bar none. Then Matt reports
it as his own. I really feel sorry for all the juveniles on
this site. Some of these comments have reminded me of
my 4 grandchildren and the things they say. Grow up people.

In defense of myself, most of my posts come from my blackberry. I don’t really care about punctuation or spelling or grammar/grammer/gramar/grammer when using my b-berry.
