[Moderated by Matt Jones]

One of these Hall of Famers needs to spill some blood tonight.
Wait, what?
Apparently, these NITs are very serious business. So serious, in fact, that Rob Miech of the Las Vegas Sun is lobbing accusations at C.M. Newton for rigging the seeding of the tournament. Miech says that Newton “just happened” to place Kentucky as a #4 seed and “must have cranked up ‘My Old Kentucky Home’ on the jukebox when UNLV was still on the board”, forcing them to travel to Lexington. Oh yeah, he also questions whether or not UK fans will sell-out an already sold out game.
But he doesn’t stop there. This idiot goes on to bash Memorial Coliseum, deem UK unworthy of a home game and…..wait for it…..calls Jerry Tipton a “homer Herald-Leader writer”.
Say what you want about the Cats, but nobody puts Baby in the corner. Rob Miech, I hope Jerry Tipton kicks you in the nuts tonight.

I am fired up 4 the game.
March 17th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
link isnt working for me
March 17th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
If this site jinxes the Cats by failing to drop a Cinco-de-Starters-o (or whatever the hell it is called) again like it did against LSU, I am never coming back.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
Hey everyone! It’s upside down day!
UK’s in the NIT! Awesome players are staying! Las Vegas is accusing Kentucky of rigging sports!
March 17th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
If Jerry Tipton is a ‘homer’ then I am paying Billy Gillispie’s salary next season.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
I like how he said C.M. will send limos to the players to get to Memorial…..oh wait….it is right across the f’ing street. This guy just hates him some UK.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
What is a “Rob Miech”?
March 17th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
7. Websters defines a “Rob Miech” as “A large bag of douche”

March 17th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
9) Are you over here trying to start sh** again. My man are you really that lonely. Go down to 4th streey live tonite watch some basketball and you may meet some friends or better yet a woman. Who knows unless you try?
March 17th, 2009 at 3:26 pm

Boom. Roas…….
March 17th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Meeks for 35
March 17th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Seriously lexslam, you are on like a 72 hour KSR “speed ball”….
March 17th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
10) Hey moron I love UK basketball and really don’t care if it was only the preseason. I am going with about 10 friends and I am going to have a great time.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
I’m not sure if anyone posted this link from the Vegas paper or not: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/mar/17/programs-familiar-big-time -play-meeting-smaller-st/
March 17th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
11) Great post. Why does this guy pretend to be a UK fan? Get a freakin life lexslam.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
It’s the NIT…no one cares. Stop making predictions like a single person gives a rat’s ass. We suck. Rock bottom is next year. Grab a beer, sit back and watch the plane crash.
11) That’s a fair prediction in my book. You people act like us beating UNLV is a given. Need I remind all of you this team lost to UGA, VMI, Ole Miss…the list goes on and on and on.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Did you read the comments after the article? The large bag of douche actually tried to argue with the guy who commented on his article.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
15) I am headed to Dickmans tonite with about 10 friends as well and I guarantee you that place will be packed with UK fans. Have a great time tonite!Don’t listen to these clowns that act like UK fans. Go Cats.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
Everyone knows the reason the game is in Lexington is because Vegas doesn’t want The Brominator unleashed on it again.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
sure5, there’s still room on the Cards bandwagon if you’ve gotten tired of riding on ours.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
Now I had the time of my life, though I never felt like this before.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
15) Pre-season I could get behind. Means hope is around the corner. Go tonite. Have fun. The plane is descending as we speak. The fact that you people are EXCITED about the NIT is a friggin’ gas. Get pissed! Demand better! Scream for greatness once again!
March 17th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
9- Maggard has that stuff up already?
March 17th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
18) I am so glad you made it home from school today. I bet you HAVE NO FRIENDS EITHER. lexslam why don’t you give sure5 your number and you two clowns hook up?
March 17th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
24)
March 17th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
22) Nah. I’m all set with that. I just have to be patient. Rock bottom is next year. Billy G will be gone and then we can start from ground ZERO.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
If Jerry Tipton is a homer for UK, Satan is a homer for the Good Lord. Not that I’m saying Jerry is Satan. Satan is a much better writer.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
Sounds like someone who is making excuses for why his team may lose.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Why not support the Cats tonight??? Who cares if it is the NIT or the first game of the year. These kids deserve your support. They do not want to lose anymore than you do and they are actually out there giving it their all.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
26) You must be so very proud of your Kentucky Wildcats this year! Good luck in the NIT tonite! You have plenty of which to be proud. Bahahahahahah.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
All you Billy G haters will be singing his praise next year when he loads the team and gets to finally play his style of ball!
March 17th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
12.) You crush your wife during sex and your heart sucks. Boom, roasted!
March 17th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Does Barnhart have Izzo and Donovan on Speed Dial??? Let it all be over soon please…….
March 17th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
33.) I have nothing but Love for my man Rick. He gave us a championship and set us up for another. He did a lot of great things for us.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
UK has a clear talent advantage tonight. UNLV has a clear coaching advantage tonight. Adequate coaching > Adequate talent, therefore I predict a UNLV victory - also, UNLV’s guards are athletic enough to give Jodie some trouble scoring, that and what is likely to be another 20+ turnover night will do this team in and end a miserable season - and possibly the Gillispie era - once and for all.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
I’m excited about next year with Vilarino, Hood and Orton coming in with the possibility of another PG. We are looking at a possible lineup of:
PG: Bledsoe/Vilarino/Porter
SG: Meeks/Hood
SF: Harris/Miller/Liggins
PF: Patterson/Pilgram
C: Orton/Stevenson/Harrellson
March 17th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
There’s nothing wrong with anyone going out to have fun tonite supporting UK. What’s wrong is thinking it is alright for us to be in it.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
38.) You are a great example of the lunatic UK fans everyone talks about. Your comments just do not make sense.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
38) Seriously young man why do you post on a UK board? I read these boards everyday (seldom post) and you are the most negative person I have ever come across. Are these posters right? Do you need friends? I would think with you having access to a computer you could meet somebody.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
How many do you think will really be here after the pending mass exodus? We might be starting Perry Stevenson, Ramon Harris, and Darius Miller next year because they are the only guys who return with any serious playing experience. What would you think of our prospects if Liggins/Porter/Harrellson/Galloway/Meeks/Patterson/Stewart all end up leaving UK basketball behind?
March 17th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
#38 - lexairballedlayupgirl - Keep it to yourself. You’ve already been outed.
No one is interested in the bozo report you share here just because you can’t get anyone in real life to want to listen to you.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Sorry I meant 37) not 38.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
42.) OK…if all those players leave then yeah that would be rough…..but what if Patterson and Meeks stay?? Stewart may leave and even Liggins but if the rest stay, which they prob will then that is a great team for next year!
Is it not??
Why would Meeks go?? The NBA scouts all see his probs and know he is a 2nd rounder at best. Paterson need to show he can play away from the basket and needs to develope more moves under the basket.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
45.
Someone will draft them and develop their skills in the NBA, a la Rajon Rondo. Both will have to consider whether returning to play under Gillispie is really their best option, or whether their skills could be better developed with the resources and time of an NBA franchise.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Guys, when you were a die hard flubby supporter like smokeyLex, if Gillispie fails, it
make him look like he actually knows what he is talking about.
March 17th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
46) I will ask again, young man why do you post on a UK board? I read these boards everyday (seldom post) and you are the most negative person I have ever come across. Are these posters right? Do you need friends? I would think with you having access to a computer you could meet somebody.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
I think you are confusing flubby’s lack of player development with Billy’s.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
49.
Tell me one scrap of evidence you’ve seen this year of coach-driven player development in any of our players.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
34. You’re 6′11″, weigh 90 lbs. Gumby has a better body than you. And you’re a kiss ass.
boom. roasted.

March 17th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
I hate to be Debbie Downer but this guy is right………UNLV deserved a much better NIT bid than the CATS….. They had bigger road and home wins, and more credible losses.
Im not complaining, Im just saying……
March 17th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
45 you are dumber then…. Somebody developed Rhondo talent! And its alot different in the NBA as a 2 or 3 guard then being the point. And sure5 wow just wow. Are you that Jealous that you didnt get tickets tonight or something! What the hell?
March 17th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
47.) PLease…..Tubby was a great coach with horrible assistants.
46.) Rondo was drafted 21st….with great Pro potential. Meeks is projected at best 2nd round with no guarantee. He needs tons of work on his ball handling and has trouble creating his own shot. Also he doesnt pass very well. Patterson could go but I think he will wait to bedrafted higher.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
53.
I’ll be at Memorial tonight. Will you?
March 17th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
49.) Are you nuts??? Tubby was a great producer of talent. Look at his players he got in the pros….Hayes…Azibuke…Rondo…Magloire….Bogans…Prince…Morris…Finch…and Daniels will be there soon.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
50 i would say Porters shot has gotten much better, Miller is a lot more confident then at the beginning year and now he looks like he can step up next year to be a big factor. Stevenson has a better outside shot. Patterson and Meeks are bigger and more physical this year
March 17th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
54.
Someone will pay Meeks to play or develop his game for the NBA next year, and he’ll be able to do it in a place where Gillispie can’t make him sit on a bench for no good reason for 9 minutes in the most must-win game of the year. He’ll be able to do it in a place where he doesn’t have to put up with Gillispie, and that may be reason enough for him to take his ticket out of Lexington.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
56.
We had a great coach and mediocre recruiter in Tubby.
We have a mediocre coach and mediocre recruiter in Gillispie.
We should have been able to upgrade with this hire, but we’re now worse off than before.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
[...] The issue is UNLV has to travel to Lexington, Kentucky tonight for their first round game, and one writer at UNLV Sports — Rob Miech — is none-too-happy about it, nor the fact that ex-UK AD C.M. Newton is the chairman of the NIT selection committee. Until this season, Newton never really had to worry about potential conflicts of interest, but now that Kentucky is officially an also-ran, the first coach to integrate Alabama’s basketball team faces complaints of favoritism. [...]
March 17th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
Yeap and you will probably be pretty easy to spot if you run that mouth like that at the game.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
58.) He sat on the bench because he wasn’t playing defense and was forcing his shot! How many times did he drive the lane and cause a turnonver in the LSU game….4 or 5??? He played poorly and he did so quite a but at the end of the season.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
52.
I agree. They beat Louisville at home, for pete’s sake. Who did we beat?
March 17th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
63.
Meaning, Louisville in Louisville.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
59 what makes coach a mediocre recruiting coach? I guess you can prove that with just one class.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Billy Gillispie has won 3 coach of the year awards in 5 years and there are actually idiots on this board who think he cannot coach.
Things happen with teams that the public simply does not know about. Many posters on this site (one in particular) need to relax and realize they have no idea what they are talking about.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
59.) how can you say he is a mediocre coach and recruiter??? So last year he was great by winning coack of the year and this year he is suddenly horrible??? And he recruited a top 10 player next year.with a top 30 player in hood and Pilgrim plus Gj who is rated at a 90 persnet at ESPN now!
March 17th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
62.
How many years does it take Gillispie to teach someone to play man-to-man defense?
March 17th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
Ok, Bodd. Magloire was not recruited by flubby.
Azubuike left early, went to the D leauge and got the coaching he needed.
Chuck was all heart.
Rondo learned nothing from flubby and has exceled since going pro.
Morris is a door stop and never sees the floor. Lazy.
Bogans, one of my all time favs, was nearly ruined his junior year.
Prince, another player who has lifted his game once in the pros.
I have no idea who Finch is.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
It will be a different crowd on here at about 11:30 Eastern tonight. I hope I am wrong but I bet I am not.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
53.) Are you saying that noone developed Rondo at the NBA level??? Im confused, I read your statement, and I feel like you talk a lot like Don Vito….
March 17th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
68.) when you have players who arent not talented…..they will never learn it. When you have to start Stevenson and Porter then you are hurting in Talent…this team’s IQ is very low when it comes to basketball.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
By the way you favorite writer and mine says that “it is done”.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/seth_davis/03/17/hoop.th oughts/2.html
March 17th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
49 Chevy…you say you are a UK fan and do not know who Gerald Finch is???…stop posting please
March 17th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
73.
Seth Davis thinks we will still be playing for a ‘few more weeks’. That is the biggest surprise in that whole article for me.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
74.
Fitch. Gerald Fitch.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
I would think that Miller has shown marked improvement and Galloway to an extent.
But here is the thing, if our team was stocked like it should be, these freshmen would not
having to do the jobs of upperclassmen.
We can only blame one person for leaving the cupboard bare………
March 17th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
51) I can’t decide between a fat joke and a dumb joke. boom Roasted!
March 17th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
I know a Gerald FiTch, but not a FiNch. Unless you are talking about the in American Pie.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
I’m not necessarily a Tubby supporter or basher, but he did develop a few players while he was here… Daniels, Fitch, Hawkins all exceeded expectations under Tubby (especially Daniels IMO).
March 17th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
I kinda hope we lose.
Just to get this season over with.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
81. How can you HOPE we LOSE? Amazing.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
62 you are wasting your time this guy doesnt even watch the games. Coach knew after the 4th forced turnover and the bad shot selection that Jody needed to sit and he did need to sit.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
82. Because he is apparently not really a Kentucky fan…
March 17th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
I don’t want us to lose, but this false excitement about a friggin NIT game escapes me. I still haven’t even looked at the NCAA bracket because I can’t bring myself to do it. The NIT just stands for “Not In Tournament”. I will watch tonight like the rest of you and hope that we win but I am just about out of hope.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:27 pm
Ok, let me refrain.
If we lose, I won’t be that upset.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
And, 84 - I promise I’m a real kentucky fan. But, I do like how you fit into that category of the “he’s not a real fan” fan.
Unlike you, I have the ability to spot a turd.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
77.
From what I’ve seen this season, Miller is just now playing up to the level he was on during the Sweet 16 last year. Gillispie, with his boot-camp system is great at breaking kids down and bringing them back to square 1, but he is not so successful at building them back up. I would rather have a coach in here who can use the strengths of the players he has and hollistically teaches the game of basketball - zone, man-to-man, pressure, everything. Gillispie’s style is too simplistic for today’s brand of basketball, especially the levels of competition we have reached in conferences like the ACC and the Big East these days. The SEC is a backwater, and if we’re to remain relevant we need a dynamic coach like Calipari to lead UK back to dominance.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
And to finish my thought in #85, while I hope we win the logical part of me understands that we are going to have to have a different coach to get back to elite level. The quickest way to a new coach would be another huge disappointment tonight. So as 86 says I won’t bethat upset if we lose. But my heart will always be for the big blue.

89 - You’re not being a real fan.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
87. If you say you’re a real fan, i’ll take your word for it. I was just responding to your original post that said “I hope we lose”. Real fans never hope for their team to lose, regardless of the circumstances.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
92 I guess.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
Are you guys questioning one another’s Fanhood????
March 17th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
88. Gillispie’s boot camp is about strength and conditioning, you moron.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Rob Miech,(who is wishing his last names was Meeks), is sorry excuse tool for a sportswriter. He baits people for a response rather than write a reputable story.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Well he did a pretty good job breaking Crawfords bad habits
March 17th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
96.
No, it isn’t. That is like saying military boot-camp is about strength and conditioning. There is a psychological rationale behind it too.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
93 - Fair enough. I wasn’t being as eloquent as I should have been. I never want us to lose. But, if we don’t win, I will not be as upset as per usual.
March 17th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
I was at the hospital the other night. I mistakenly opened a maintenance room on the second floor and much to my surprise there was LEXBLOMAN. He was there with his anatomically correct TUBBY doll and his laptop computer.
I can’t say more about the Tubby doll but he was on KSR typing furiously with ONE hand.

Calipari record Just three years ago Calipari was very close to being run out of Memphis. It took him six years to get memphis to where they are now. Do you really want to wait that long for UK to be good again?
