[Moderated by Matt Jones]

This has been one heck of a night of basketball. The Bulls-Celtics series has been one for the ages and tonight’s game was epic. By the end, there was a redhaired guy with a headband in the game, so you knew both teams were spent. But it wasnt the big event of the night for me personally. After having a nice dinner at Jasons Deli (good salads), I got a call from a big UK fan and friend of the blog, offering me a ticket to the Barnstable-Brown party. Now for those of you that know me well, an event like Barnstable-Brown is not exactly my normal social crowd. I tend to be more sweatshirt/hanging out with Hubby than going to a black tie event with celebrities. But how can I miss this opportunity? I am rolling solo (and if any KSR female readers will be going, let me know), but there will be much to see. So to get prepared, I got a tuxedo and scanned the celebrity guest list for the big event. Here are the stars coming out:
Woody Harrelson
Gretchen Wilson
Kid Rock
Bobby Flay
Joey Fatone
Nick Lachey
Tom Brady
Eli Manning
Randy Moss
Travis Tritt
En Vogue
Boyz II Men
Hugh Hefner
Mekhi Pheiffer
Valerie Bertanelli
Damon Wayans
Evander Holyfield
Miss Kentucky USA
Keshia Knight-Pullum
Paris Hilton
Danica Patrick
Kendra Wilkinson
Brooke Shields
Lee Ann Womack
Quite a diverse list….the musical entertainment for the evening is Boyz II Men and En Vogue (making this the same musical selection as my middle school prom). Mosley and I spent part of the evening debating who was the biggest name (we decided it was either Hef, Paris Hilton or Tom Brady) and who was the smallest (gotta be Kendra Wilkinson). But the question remains, since I will be there, what questions should I ask to each celebrity? Tomlin suggested that I act like each person was a big UK fan and just ask about where they think John Wall will go to school. Mosley suggested I only ask each person about what we know them for (aka “hey Valerie Bertanelli…One Day at a Time was great…that Schneider was CRAZY!”). But I want your suggestions…what should I ask and to who….the best three, I PROMISE I will ask and tweet the answers (www.twitter.com/kysportsradio). Have at it….
To the news…..
(1): At Jason’s Deli, my nice feta cheese salad was interrupted with text messages screaming about the supposed imminent commitment of Will Barton, the #1 rated SG in America to the Cats. Kentucky Ink supposedly put the story out earlier today, Maggard quickly confirmed and took credit and the UK nation was quickly excited. However Jeff Drummond of TCP then said he wasnt hearing the same thing, which led me to see what I could find out. I spoke with Evan Daniels of Scout.com (who is quickly becoming my go-to recruiting guy…he is great) who told me that he spoke with Barton tonight and “he told me that he liked Kentucky a lot but that he was wide open and was in no hurry to make a decision.” So there you go…Barton is a great player and may one day be a Cat…but when that day will be seems to be not clear at this time.
(2): I think maybe my favorite story so far in the 2009 recruiting world was today’s news that John Wall will visit NC Central. For those of you that dont know, Central is an historically black college in Durham that plays Division II basketball. So Wall isnt going there…but I love the randomness of him choosing to visit there. I think he should visit Centre as well, just to even it out.
It also reminded me of my Central story. While in law school, I represented an individual on Death Row during his appeal for clemency. During the process, my partner in the case (a 6′8″ British Rugby player lawyer who may have been the most muscular dude I have ever known) and I went around North Carolina speaking at colleges about the Death Penalty. We spoke at eight schools, the first of which was Central. Speaking to an all black audience of about 500 students, this mountain boy and British gent spoke about the evils of the death penalty in general and our client in particular. At the end, we had a question and answer session. The first guy I called on said,
“So, are you against the death penalty all the time?”
I said that yes I was, but then said that even if one wasnt againt the death penalty in general, my client should still be granted clemency. I called on the next young woman…
“So, what if it were Osama bin Laden…would you be against the death penalty then?”
This was of course not too long after 9/11 and I said that while I thought bin Laden should be either killed in battle or captured, I wouldnt favor an execution because I was against the death penalty in ALL cases. The next guy then asked,
“So what if you had a sister and she was killed, would you be against the death penalty then?”
I once again said yes, and repeated that no matter what the hypothetical, nothing would make me for the death penalty. The next guy stood up and said…
“So if your mother and father….”
And before he could finish, my British friend Ed interrupted and said, “HE BLOODY SAID HE WAS AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY. STOP ASKING THIS CRAP!” The dude sat down sheepishly…and no one else asked a question. I have never seen a crowd collectively cave quicker than that one did. We later agreed that he needed to work on his tact for future speeches. As you can see, John Wall needs to know this info about NC Central before he makes his choice.
(3): Dominique Ferguson narrowed his list to seven schools today, one of which was Kentucky. Ferguson continues to express reservations about the possibility of UK because he worries that Calipari will make him play the “4″ instead of his preferred “3″. I must say that this worry baffles me for Ferguson, because those positions can be equivalent in the Calipari system, where he often likes to play four guys on the perimeter. Still that is a concern and one Calipari will have to address.
(4): Calipari spent today in LA at his EA Sports shoot and will be on Jim Rome tomorrow during the day. The pictures from the shoot that were linked earlier are extremely impressive and show a UK fanbase dressed up cheering on the video game Cats. Worth checking out if you havent seen them.
(5): Finally one interesting thing from Dick Weiss today. He confirmed in a blog post that Lance Stephenson did contact UK about coming here as part of the 2009 class. That gives even more creedence to the idea that he was the guy Calipari talked about when he said he didnt want guys who were “takers” instead of “givers.” Cal turning down Top 10 recruits….my how UK’s recruiting fortunes have changed in the last month.
We will have a ton all day….I will be checking in from Oaks and the part all day and night, while Beisner and the crew will be managing the grunt work during the day. Stay tuned…..

The more I think about it, and after reading MM post patting himself on the back for (whoa - huge stretch) saying Barton was interested in UK and would commit soon, I have decided the way MM runs his site and handles his information is like unto a beautician running a salon. There’s a great deal of gossip, and a hell of a lot of cattiness when someone points out that his gossip is wrong half of the time. Of course, the fact that he sports the frosty tips just makes the analogy all the more pretty.

Nuisance…
Matt, spent all afternoon with Bobby Flay. Ask him what he thought about his distillery tour. (Actually, I know what he thought…dude loves bourbon). Drink that bottle responsibly (i.e. don’t mix it with that orange crap you had on your desk).

Are you aware that some dude named Micah on Facebook (creator of “UK needs John Wall”) just rips everything off your site and CPause, and basically passes it off as his own info, in a nightly message to group members? You probably could care less, but its kinda lame if you ask me…
Matt Jones doesn’t tip

I wouldn’t be so sure that we don’t see a Barton commit before too long.

I still remain a BCG fan and wanted to share that he is still good to the fans

It isnt about respect, its about not dominating EVERY thread with your question and answer…a couple of posts are fine, but too many people complain that it makes the comments unreadable

Ask pretty much any one of those “celebreties” how they are enjoying this season of the Road Rules/Real World Challenge The Duel II on MTV.
Follow up question:
If they are enjoying then ask if the opening credits Haka dance really brought the show to a new level, in their opinion.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:01 am
Thats not what I said….I just said post your info, be nice about it and then let others comment. You are a good poster, but just dont let eveyr night thread become the SaveUK thread.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:03 am
I’d like to talk only to Richie Farmer at the Barnstable’s. He is not on the list and neither am I.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:15 am
Matt I don’t mean to dominate a thread and I understand what your saying
and respect that.
Would it be okay with you when I had info if I just simply posted that
I have some information and if anyone would like to dicuss come to…..and
choose an older thread to use for that, that way I the latest thread doesn’t
become what you don’t want it to become?

#39 You always have a good insite on things - Do you think the things
Ferguson has been saying lately in the media sound like things he
that maybe other college coaches are telling him trying to play the
“recruiting game”? Like to hear your opinion on it.

Ask Boyz II Men:
“At what point did you guys really go from boys to men? And do you consider yourself grandparents or great-grandparents currently?”
or
“Have you guys ever had sex with En Vogue.”
May 1st, 2009 at 12:34 am
I went over to Maggard’s site to see what being said about the recruit, and couldn’t take much of it. The site is full of people kissing his ass like he’s some sort of gilded idol. It’s disturbing to see people fawn over someone like that. The man has a cult, and it is pathetic.

MATT and SAVEUK–SaveUK is not the problem and he does not dominate the thread. It opens up discussions amongst the many late night followers–with a few exceptions that want to “nerd fight” with SaveUK. He simply defends himself against the mindless people who can not read. I have told him to let it go and not engage in such talk but outside of that, it is what this site all about with most of his info sparking “good” debate and speculation.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:51 am
Ask Brady if he thinks Cassell gave the Chiefs guy some cash when he got to Kansas City.

I don’t have anymore to say that I haven’t already said in the last
several days and I will leave it at that for now with regards to UK.
Did everyone see the pictures Cal sent on twitter from LA? Pretty
cool. He is already cutting down nets, gotta love that. Practice makes
perfect

I think we all agree with 51.
Why would anyone not want to read speculation. That’s why we read this site.

It might seem preposterous to imagine the nation’s undisputed No. 1 high school basketball player ending up at the University of Miami.
But from what I learned on Wednesday night while poking around during UM’s awards banquet, the unthinkable could happen.
One inside source told me that John Wall, a 6-foot-4 guard from Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God Christian Academy, informed UM coach Frank Haith that his choice would come down to two schools - Kentucky and Miami. Wall visited UM last weekend.
Publicly, Wall has said he’s still considering Duke, North Carolina State, Baylor, Kentucky, Miami, Florida, Kansas and Memphis, but expects to cut that list down to three or four this week.
May 1st, 2009 at 12:59 am
Again guys, its not about SaveUK, its about how the posts all deteriorate when he gets involved…not his fault, but it ruins the discussion. I have said what I have to say, SaveUK and others, just do as we ask.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:00 am
I think Cal might be in studio with Rome (radio) and JRIB. Could be wrong.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:01 am
#59 if that is true that just proves what you been saying all along,
- “Wall is going to be a Wildcat”
Kudos
May 1st, 2009 at 1:02 am
yes sir SaveUK….here some news or “old news” i read.
Eric Bledsoe, the No. 3 point guard in the Class of 2009, arrived in Memphis Thursday for his official visit and was overwhelmed by the local media.
Bledsoe will head to Kentucky on Friday and then decide between John Calipari’s old and new programs.
“I’m just looking for the opportunity to play ball and make it to the next level,” Bledsoe, a senior at Parker (AL) High, told a crowd of reporters in an interview broadcast on MyFoxMemphis.
Bledsoe had initially listed Florida as his leader but said he will choose next week between Memphis and Kentucky. Both schools are in desperate need of a point guard.
“I’m going to make my decision next week,” he said.
Current Memphis head coach Josh Pastner recruited Bledsoe when he was an assistant to Calipari at Memphis and Bledsoe said the two still have a close relationship. Bledsoe said Pastner told him the Tigers would run even more than they did under Calipari.
“[He said] they was going to run even more, more than Calipari did,” Bledsoe said. “He was going to work hard.”
Point guard John Wall of Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God is the No. 1 recruit in the class and is widely viewed as Kentucky’s first choice to play point guard. Wall has a long list of suitors including Kentucky, Duke, Baylor, Kansas, N.C. State, Florida, Memphis and Miami.
Wall said in a text message Thursday that he had yet to cut his list.
Asked if it bothered him that Wall was considered Kentucky’s first choice, Bledsoe said: “No, sir. No it don’t. I’m going to play my position either if he do go or he don’t.”
Asked if they could play together, Bledsoe said, “Yes, sir.”
The 6-foot, 160-pound Bledsoe averaged 20.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and 10.3 assists in leading Parker to the Class 5A state championship game. The Thundering Herd beat Kentucky-bound big man DeMarcus Cousins and Mobile (AL) LeFlore 52-39 in the semifinals.
“I’m a pass-first point guard,” he said. “I can help everybody get to where they need to be.”
Memphis has produced back-to-back one-and-done point guards in Derrick Rose, now starring in the Chicago Bulls-Boston Celtics series, and Tyreke Evans, and Bledsoe said he liked the fact that he could step in and follow in their path.
“It’s a point guard school. They make point guards go to the NBA,” he said. “That’s how I like it. I could step right in and be the guy, that’s why I like it.”
May 1st, 2009 at 1:04 am
OK so i just read that article, and Bledsoe seems to have trouble speaking the english language…which is fine as long as he qualifies. but does he not understand- he said “memphis is a point guard school”. Does he not realize that Cal is a point guard coach??????? I mean he’s the common denominator. Come on Eric buddy!
May 1st, 2009 at 1:07 am
Anyone have a link to the palm beach newspaper that has the john wall quote saying he is down to uk and miami?
May 1st, 2009 at 1:09 am
Impression of SaveUK:
“I totally told you guys this would happen like last week.”
“my source tells me that something big is about to happen. he won’t tell me what, but I know it is going to be big.”
“Everything I say on her is just me as a fan with no inside info. That being said, my best friend works in the athletic department and sent me an email today saying…”
“I don’t have a source. My buddy at the AD just emailed me some inside info.”
May 1st, 2009 at 1:10 am
I wonder if Wall told Coach K that it was down to Duke and UK too… Smart kid.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:12 am
Bledsoe also has a strong relationship with new Memphis assistant Glynn Cyprien, who was on Billy Gillispie’s staff at Kentucky. Cyprien was the key figure in Bledsoe’s favoring Kentucky before the coaching changes, according to numerous reports.
When Calipari got the job at Kentucky, however, he also decided to make a strong push for Bledsoe.
Though Bledsoe and Wall have similar strengths — they’re both true point guards but not great shooters — Calipari has tried to convince them that they could play together rather than outwardly recruiting Bledsoe as a backup plan.
Wall was likely to commit to Memphis before Calipari left, and it is believed he will choose Kentucky over Duke and Miami.
Bledsoe, however, said Wall’s decision would not determine his own.

Matt’s death penalty back-and-forth reminds me of my discussions with right-wingers about whether this country should torture. These “ticking bomb” scenarios Matt describes are equally self-serving for both the supporter of the death penalty and torture. But torture is more immoral — which I may get into later, perhaps — but even less practical.
For torture to be of any use even in theory, the situation has to be very narrow, artificially narrow.
1. The target person must actually be the right person and have the information you are seeking to get out of them.
2. The timeframe must be just right. If there is little time left then the person has a strong motivation to simply load up a bunch of misdirection to confuse and delay. If there is a long time then there are other methods of interrogation that would be better.
3. Paradox of memory. The trauma damages memory processes. Testimony under torture is a one-shot deal in this situation because the torture itself will corrupt what the person remembers, and will cement in what they fabricate as real memory.
4. The tortured will tend to glean what the torturer believes and simply reinforce those beliefs. You will get your own beliefs echoed back and reinforced in a circular dance. So you wind up just entrenching your own biases.
It’s a UK sports blog. I know. This came out of Matt’s story and he seems to want an occasional change in narrative.

May 1st, 2009 at 1:31 am
73- Okay I’m ready for recruiting…the nerd fighting is behind me. So do you think it’s UK/Duke or UK/Miami for Wall?
May 1st, 2009 at 1:33 am

start thinking about nicknames!!!

Matt, will you be drinking heavily tomorrow night? Or lay low and take it all in?
May 1st, 2009 at 1:33 am
I really dont see him going to duke, especially if he grew up a NC fan, so Id have to say he will be a cat,
May 1st, 2009 at 1:33 am
I think Miami is a really fun place to be and John Wall is a really young guy.
It has to be Duke or UK, if he’s serious about furthering his career as a pro.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:34 am
I agree with KENNYPOWERS that Wall will be a CAT
May 1st, 2009 at 1:34 am
Hey, what do you know. I step away for a bit and low and behold who is here?????? Mr. Poopy Pusher himself.
Where have you been? Hiding? Had to ask Matt come on and slap the Late Night Crew on the wrist? We have been doing fine without you so crawl back into the water lobster boy.
You are the problem (and a few others like you). If you can not be part of the discussion and voice a (logical) opinion without taking pop shots and personal attacks then sit there quietly and watch the rest of us have the fun and enjoy the ride that is the CAL-TRAIN.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:35 am

May 1st, 2009 at 1:36 am
Matt– you can delete my rant at #83–Apparently you have deleted some of lobstersky posts so understand who the real problems are.
By the way, be safe and enjoy yourself this weekend.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:37 am
If you assume it’s down to those two and you look at the recent samplings of….
Greg Paulus = #1 PG in his class = Currently looking for a 5th year for football.
Derrick Rose = #1 PG in his class = #1 draft pick currently tearing up the playoffs.
You would have to like our chances.
Who knows, though? If the kid seriously plans on visiting UNC Central, then logic goes out the window.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:38 am
87) It was short lived, quick TKO.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:38 am
I kinda feel like Wall doesn’t want to seem rude or let anybody down so he continues to list several schools…but it’s just cause he is a really nice kid.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:39 am
87- it got deleted.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:40 am
I think there is a reason Wall is visiting UNC Central and it isn’t
because he wants to go there. I will have to check into more tomorrow
just to make sure but I think he has a strong connection with someone
at UNC Central. I’ll check up on it tomorrow to makes sure what I think
is true or not and let everyone know what I find. I don’t think it is
because he is seriously thinking of going there
May 1st, 2009 at 1:40 am
92 Wall’s just milking it and doesn’t love us.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:40 am
90…consider it a history lesson…he has no plans on going their…lol
May 1st, 2009 at 1:41 am
#88–Not nearly as big as it will be if he cuts his list to DUKE and UK. ESPN will pick it up and schedule the announcement in the middle of Sportscenter with an hour long tribute to the team he committs, analysis how the nets will be cut with his going to ______ and how every game he plays next year will be on some type of ESPN channel.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:42 am
94- that info has already been posted!!!
May 1st, 2009 at 1:43 am
78 I guess I dozed off for a second and posted wrong no. Or it could be they axed before my post. Sorry..
May 1st, 2009 at 1:43 am
SaveUK–my first thought was (and this JUST MY OPINION–LOL)–wonder if Roy has a friend at NC Central that is setting a private meeting for the two behind Cliftons back.
Seems odd that he would visit the school without every mentioning them.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:44 am
One of Wall’s former coaches/instructors/entourage is coaching at and trying to build up the program at Central from what I have heard. This attention wont hurt things for the small school. Not 100% sure on that but I think I read it a few hours ago.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:45 am
Maybe Wall really doesn’t know what he wants to do. My opinion is
that he wants to play for coach Cal but important people in his life
want him to go to Duke and that is where everything stands right now.
In the end I think he gets the blessing he is looking for from the most
important person in his life and goes to UK, he might have gotten that
blessing recently.
That is just my opinion on things right now but I woudn’t count out Duke
just yet. It feels like they are very much in the mix of things and could
get Wall.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:45 am
84- Mitch went with him and a few other people.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:45 am
I’m starting to wonder about Wall’s academic standing, honestly.
You would have to think that this would have progressed past 8-9 schools on his “list”, if he weren’t purposefully delaying his decision.
It may just be for brand building, but I wonder if there’s not something more going on.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:45 am
92) That’s the impression that I got. I’m hyped up about this Will Barton commit. According to Scout.com, he is the #1 shooting guard in the class. BALLER.
http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=3566909
May 1st, 2009 at 1:46 am
#101 you must have because that is what I think I heard and read as well.
I think your right
May 1st, 2009 at 1:48 am
If UK was unable to get Wall, I would be relieved if he went to NC Central. Don’t see it happening though.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:49 am
ok all he went their for a history lesson like a field trip if you will…NCC is nowhere in the picture for the point guard
May 1st, 2009 at 1:49 am
104- delaying until test scores come out… I could believe it.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:49 am
104. great point.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:49 am
103. thanks, thought I saw Mitch and Leon Smith (Ass. AD for men’s bball) in one of the trailer pictures. I was wondering how safe Leon’s position was since the new regime came in from Memphis…
May 1st, 2009 at 1:52 am
#111 Yeah that was Leon in a couple of those pictures. I hope he is
safe in his position
May 1st, 2009 at 1:52 am
Could this kid want to play for Cal but not UK?
May 1st, 2009 at 1:53 am
105….lets not say anything til he is signed!!
May 1st, 2009 at 1:54 am
112. Leon is a great guy…I got to know him when I was there 99-01…Good people…
May 1st, 2009 at 1:56 am
#115 I agree he is a great guy.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:58 am
1. Ask Keisha Knight Pulliam if she’s really still relevant enough to be there - and tell there IS a correct answer to that.
2. Ask Tom Brady if Gisele will be my date to a wedding next month (I’ll cover her flight, be SURE to include that).
3. Ask Kendra Wilkinson to multiply 9×6.
Thank you. Go Cats.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:59 am
from Dan Wolken in the Memphis CommercialAppeal:
“Wall was likely to commit to Memphis before Calipari left, and it is believed he will choose Kentucky over Duke and Miami.
Bledsoe, however, said Wall’s decision would not determine his own.”
Is it really ‘believed’ that Wall will choose UK by most insiders?
May 1st, 2009 at 2:00 am
116. When were you at UK?
May 1st, 2009 at 2:01 am
Wall has not taken his test yet. He stated at either the Summit or Jordan that he would take the test May 2nd (I thought he said the 5th but that is not a Saturday). If he can’t read a calendar, then he will have a tough time passing the test.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:03 am
has it been confirmed bledsoe got a 17 on the act and therefore qualifies?
May 1st, 2009 at 2:04 am
#118 You ask a great question and one I been looking for myself.
I think most “insiders” agree on one thing that it comes down between
UK and Duke.
It seems something might have happened real recent that has changed things.
Just my opinion but I think Wall wants to play for Calipari and all he needs
is the blessing from the most important person in his life (that should be
easy to figure out). It maybe possible he has gotten that blessing recently
and that could be way it seems that all the “insiders” are now starting to
come to the conclusion he is going to be a Wildcat.
I still think it is to early to tell and Wall doesn’t know what he
is going to do other than it will be between UK and Duke
This Wall saga is really hard to get a good grip on. Right now nothing
would suprise me with what Wall ends up doing
May 1st, 2009 at 2:05 am
120. I think he and Bledsoe have the same academic issues then…I heard a teacher from Birmingham Parker was saying that Bledsoe isn’t even carrying a 1.5 GPA in core classes and hasn’t since he’s been in HS. I asked how he was able to play this year and was told that 1.5 is still passing…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:07 am
Why are kids waiting so long to take the test..
May 1st, 2009 at 2:07 am
#121 good question, does it still come down to grades? 17 should be
good enough but from what I understand it comes down to what his GPA is
or will be after summer classes. I am not for sure about the qualifing
rules so I am probably not the right person to be answering your question.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:08 am
118. The Memphis media is acting like Wall to UK is a done deal to further influence Bledsoe to commit there. Check this out….
http://video.wreg.com/global/video/popup/pop_playerLaunch.asp?vt1=v&cl ipFormat=flv&clipId1=3711589&at1=Sport&h1=Top
They basically bait the kid with every question to try and influence his answers.
What local media interviews a non-committed recruit on camera for the 11 O’Clock News anyway? You’d think he had just won a playoff game….
May 1st, 2009 at 2:08 am
it amazes me how poor there grades are..i’d be more than happy to take the tests for them though if it got them to uk
May 1st, 2009 at 2:09 am
127. I know someone who Eric Manual copied off of at Lafayette…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:10 am
#123 are you sure? I thought they had two different issues but I don’t
really know. I thought Wall has the high GPA and just needs to get the
a good enough ACT/SAT score, which shouldn’t be hard to do.
but Bledsoe has a good enough test score but his GPA is to low, that is
harder to correct because classes take time to complete.
That is my understanding but I really don’t understand the two situations
May 1st, 2009 at 2:11 am
I thought the media wasn’t allowed to talk nor interview a recruit
on an offical visit?
May 1st, 2009 at 2:12 am
#127–it is their and there so it doesn’t look like the guy we want taking the test.
Also, Chris Shearer did that same thing for Eric Manual while he was at Lafayette and look where that got us.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:12 am
129. I was just saying that they both had academic issues…I believe your correct about which problems that each of them have…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:13 am
#128–lol didn’t see your post. Was typing mine while you posted yours. Sorry.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:13 am
131. C’mon you didn’t have to mention his name…he’s a good friend…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:14 am
133. LOL. Did you go to the big ‘L’?
May 1st, 2009 at 2:15 am
126) I think Memphis may be getting desperate.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:15 am
Are you kidding? There was an article in Sports Illustrated about the whole thing. He was interviewed while going to school at Indiana.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:16 am
SaveUK, you would have to think that someone in an entire media mob would have checked the rule book, but who knows.
It does seem like an unfair advantage to have the kid treated like a celebrity on his official visit. The “visit” may have technically been over at that point, though.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:17 am
I did for a year.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:17 am
137. try to place that as F-A-R out of memory as possible…he and I talk regularly…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:17 am
The Memphis sports media might be the worst sports media in the country.
They are a strange group who seem to act more like a paid UM employee
than a true sports media market
May 1st, 2009 at 2:18 am
139. okay vague…when?
May 1st, 2009 at 2:18 am
If he were on the 11pm news, his visit should have been over. It started at 9pm 48 hours prior so he should be cleared to speak with whoever he wants. The coaches however are not allowed to mention his name.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:19 am
87
May 1st, 2009 at 2:19 am
Engage Joey Fatone in conversation…then tell him you’re sorry but, “what’s your name again?”
May 1st, 2009 at 2:20 am
#138 Well I am not for sure about what I said, I could be very wrong.
I just assumed the media wasn’t allowed to talk and interview a recruit
on an offical visit because I do know that a University isn’t allowed
to contact the media and tell them that a recruit is coming in for an
offical visit. So I just assumed they could interview.
With what we are learning more and more about the Memphis sports media,
it doesn’t seem like to me they are a group who really cares about
playing by the rules
May 1st, 2009 at 2:22 am
144. I was at LexCath then…kicked out and went to Lafayette in 88…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:22 am
lol…Bledsoe “I dont know any of the Memphis players.” LMAO…i love that part
May 1st, 2009 at 2:23 am
Any other ‘news’ about how the individuals went and who may be leaving…I have it from a close friend that Harrellson is gone.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:24 am
Correct me if I am wrong but didn’t Bledsoe say he wanted to play
at a school that could help him get to the NBA?
If so wouldn’t playing at UK for Calipari even if Wall is there for
one year, still a better place to Bledsoe than going to UM with a brand
new head coach eventhough he could get instant PT
May 1st, 2009 at 2:26 am
I ran with Robbie Innes, Darrin Mullins, Bill Daugherty, Allan Lafferty, Bud Fisher but played ball at Harrods Hills with Chris, Billy Crist, John Logan etc. I know a ton of those people from 86-88. I dated Melissa Brown the whole time I was there.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:26 am
I’ve never seen a group of media sources as bad as what they have in Memphis.
1.) They reported that Cal to UK was a done deal like 4 times and retracted it withing an hour each time.
2.) They reported that UK had offered $6.67 mil per to Cal that they said was countered with $7 mil per by Memphis. Neither number was even close on either side.
3.) They’ve sensationalized stories about Calipari demanding Barbee be his replacement or he would “gut” the Memphis program. This “gutting” was rumored to include the transfer to UK of Garcia, Witherspoon and Sallie as well as the signing of both 09′ JUCO’s (we did get one of them :)). How many roster spots did they think we had?
Basically, they’re sensationalists at best that prey off the weaknesses of a jilted fanbase to generate clicks and sell papers.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:28 am
152 what do you expect…lol…the best thing to happen to Memphis picked up everything include the secretary and moved up north…lol
May 1st, 2009 at 2:28 am
#152 Forgot to mention that a month ago they thought Calipari was
really God and now they think he is a dirty cheat who is overrated.
Memphis Sports Media - go figure
May 1st, 2009 at 2:29 am
I also love how they pimp the track record of NBA PG’s at Memphis without mentioning that the coach responsible is no longer there.
They do what they have to I guess.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:31 am
Memphis has a NBA team? LOL
May 1st, 2009 at 2:33 am
#155 I thought that was weird too when I saw the interview. That might
be counter productive by the Memphis sports media. They actually might
have helped us with that line of questioning
May 1st, 2009 at 2:33 am
Memphis media really hurting for stories…all Bledsoe did was visit the campus.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:36 am
157. thanks for hanging around after all the ‘poop’ tonight…this late-night crowd is the best on here all day…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:37 am
i live outside memphis and the sports media is awful…only one worth a damn is chris vernon and his on am 730
May 1st, 2009 at 2:38 am
I noticed they were tyring to sell to Bledsoe the fact that there is
an NBA team there and that could help him with getting looked at by
NBA scouts.
1) It is the Grizzles, ooohhhhh
2) NBA scouts travel to more UK games to evaluate players than Memphis
games. Plus if Wall comes to UK even more scouts will come and get
to take a look at Bledsoe as well, which will make them want to come back
again the next year.
3) UK will be just about on National TV every game next season
May 1st, 2009 at 2:39 am
I thought the best part was Bledsoe mentioning he didnt know any of the Memphis players…
May 1st, 2009 at 2:41 am
#159 Lately I been trying to come on earlier during the day to post but
all anyone wants to talk about is anything non UK related. Which is fine
but not really why I come on here.
You all who come on here late night are more focused on all things UK. Late
night KSR is where I feel more comfortable and find discusion that better
suits me
I think there is a pretty good group that comes on here late night and
I really enjoy it.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:42 am
#162 LOL but if you think about it….how many can any of us really name?
Witherspoon
Evans but he is gone
Can’t think of anyone right off the top of my head
May 1st, 2009 at 2:42 am
Sallie
May 1st, 2009 at 2:46 am
well we have one common goal…that for UK to go back like before and be the national powerhouse we used to be in the late 90’s…we got all the components for that to happen and just nice to sit here and dwell on the good and bad of what and what might not happen with recruiting.
May 1st, 2009 at 2:47 am
memphis will be pretty good if they get bledsoe..theyll have sallie, witherspoon, kemp, taggert, coleman, garcia, mack, niles,
May 1st, 2009 at 2:48 am
3 a.m here in cincinnati…night all!!
May 1st, 2009 at 2:48 am
W2C - Well said and on that note I am headed to bed. I enjoyed the
great discussions tonight, have a good weekend everyone
May 1st, 2009 at 2:51 am
163 I agree late is better.. I enjoy the information and chat that happens late at night..The early ones have a right to this site, it’s just not as informative. There also seem to be more nerd fights..
May 1st, 2009 at 2:56 am
Night Save. Where was Secretariat and SoCal tonight?
May 1st, 2009 at 3:05 am
Was too depressed to post after missing the nerd fight. Got in a good one the other day with a TBK guy though.
May 1st, 2009 at 3:10 am
Wasn’t much of a nerd fight. Matt was on late and was deleting posts almost as quick as they were put up. “lobstersky” was on though and tried to stir the pot.
Matt told SaveUK to pretty much “tone it down” and don’t dominate the board. Seems odd that SaveUK is the guy that gets singled out but oh well. I don’t think Matt likes me too much either but what are you going to do?
May 1st, 2009 at 3:56 am
Seeing as how I’m struggling to find this answer myself in a term paper that’s due in, oh, say, a little under six hours, ask Eli Manning if human beings are fundamentally physical beings or non-material.
May 1st, 2009 at 5:33 am
Matt Jones is the man. SaveUK, you need to stop all your “inside info” bullsh*t. You are a cancer to this website. Matt Jones and KSR for life. Go Cats!!
May 1st, 2009 at 5:43 am
Carolina Blue…………I hope i see you in lex or lou sometime soon. Maybe Matt wont do anything because he has something to lose……but i dont.
May 1st, 2009 at 6:09 am
Obviously you don’t have much to lose. You’re trying to pick a fight with someone in the comments section of a blog. Get MJ’s testicles out of your mouth, ass clown.
May 1st, 2009 at 6:38 am
haha…….I like how fragglerocksucks comes in and threatens everyone after they go to bed. I don’t agree with most of Matt’s political views, but I’m in full agreement with him over the death penalty.
May 1st, 2009 at 7:29 am
SaveUK you should have your own blog. IMO I think Matt is getting irritated with the fact you hog his nightly post with your comments. The problem exists because your comments are welcome by many here. Please let us know when your website is running!
Is there life after death? If there is how do we know that Death is a penalty? All along we could be doing these horrible people a big favor, that or helping Satan with his quota.
I think Maggard has good info; he is right and wrong just about as much as everybody else. The shear fact we mention him here all the time gives him authority. I would have never known about Marc if this website didn’t mention him on a daily basis. The same goes for Chris Cross but when I checked him out he really sucked.
As far as Wall and Bledsoe goes it’s 100% still in the air. These guys are getting the Royal treatment from all involved. That makes for a difficult decision for any young man. I think instead of counting chickens we need to relax and hope for the best.
May 1st, 2009 at 7:31 am
Many Kentucky fans thought Pitino was a god also. But ask them what they think he now.
May 1st, 2009 at 7:37 am
This site has become increasingly lame since the departure of BCG and the lack of news lately. It kind of reminds me of 24 hour news stations. Sometimes THERE IS NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT! That doesn’t mean you have to make it up or talk to hear your head rattle to keep sponsors. Just report what’s necessary not something to keep up your hits.
May 1st, 2009 at 7:40 am
Matt, I have a suggestion.
Maybe you should assign a post for people that like to highjack. Treat it like a Game thread. You could call it “Dusk to Dawn with Dummies” or “Nightly Nerd Fight”. I think that would be a good way to allow people to go off topic but allow those who like to stay on topic a chance to bypass that crap. Your nightly posts have become less about interaction with what you had to say.
On the flip side, one of the attractions to KSR is the ability to run off at the mouth.
May 1st, 2009 at 7:59 am
You could ask them if they also as celebrities like to buy their furniture AT THE REEEDDDD HOUSE!!!!!! I think I saw Kige in that Ad buying a chase lounge.
May 1st, 2009 at 8:31 am
1. Ask MISS KENTUCKY what it felt like to be in the top 5..
May 1st, 2009 at 8:33 am
Ask hugh hefner how bridette’s ass taste…literally.
May 1st, 2009 at 8:33 am
“So what if you had a very young son who was raped and then tortured and then executed …?” Bloody hell!
May 1st, 2009 at 8:35 am
Two things…
First, why is that liberals are against the death penalty and for abortion??? Mr. Jones, I like your basketball commentary and updates, but your political views stink.
Second, D Ferg. said he had reservations about playing the PF position (4) which has kept him from recommitting, but where does he think he would have played under BCG???
May 1st, 2009 at 8:36 am
BTW, talking about how you would respond to the death penalty in such situations is kind of like disgussing what kind of a soldier you would be in a fox hole in the heat of battle if you have never been in such a situation. Although ideally we like to think we know ourselves, until that shadow is cast over our lives, it really is hard to say. The better answer might be, “I would hope that I feel the same regardless.”
May 1st, 2009 at 8:38 am
One more thing, the fact that Matt felt compelled to tell us how muscular his partner was is kind of … interesting. ;o)
May 1st, 2009 at 8:38 am
MM and his Frosted Tips make me so uncomfortable and sick to my belly. That dud ethinks he’s the bomb, so wrote a little hit em up style rap for him called Frost ‘Em Up. Here it is, bust it.
First off, EFF your site

Plus Marky tryin’ to see me weak
Tips I rip

Some mark mag tipses
We keep on coming
While we running from that tool
Steady tippin’
Keep on frosting at them fools
You know the rules
Little Tips go ask ya homie

Post on your site
And hope its right
Now little bo peep
Little Tips,

Quick to snatch your ugly tips, off the head
So eff tips

Grab your tips when you see MM
Frost the tops when you see MM, uh
Who frost me,
But your tips isn’t finish
Now you must sit in the salon chair for a minute
Frosty, you don’t get up!
May 1st, 2009 at 8:39 am
I bet that if that’s the only thing that is keeping D.Ferguson from recommitting is that, then I’m sure that Coach Cal will inform him that there is NO DIFFERENCE between a 3 or 4 in his system, put the ball on the floor and go to the hole
May 1st, 2009 at 8:48 am
#24, does she know about the penie flu?
May 1st, 2009 at 8:49 am
Question for Hef…
Ask him….VIAGRA or CIALIS?
C’mon Matt, you HAVE to ask!!!
May 1st, 2009 at 8:58 am
Woody Harrelson is gonna be there? Ask him if he knows what a quince is! (It’s a food Billy and I got 7 more of em!)
May 1st, 2009 at 8:59 am
I worked with Gretchen Wilson when I worked in Hollywood, she is an awful human being…….apparently I didn’t bring her the right kind of bottled water….not even J-Lo was that bad to me.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:04 am
Go up to Damon Wayans and ask him who his favorite college basketball team is. If he responds with anything other than UK, whip out a socks balled up and say Homey don’t play dat and bust em up side his head.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:06 am
What is this fascination with celebrity anyway? They’re just people so worthless that we have to let them be our court jesters because they can’t do anything actually useful.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:07 am
I don’t understand Matt’s logic at all. How many KSR comments sections ARE readable? SaveUK is one of the best posters on this site… geez.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:13 am
198. You don’t find that poser overly repetitive? It gets turned into the same thread nightly regardless of the topic Matt or Beisner posts.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:13 am
Dont ask them anything they are there to have a good time and enjoy the bluegrass just have a good time. Kid Rock might back hand your ass if you ask him a question..
May 1st, 2009 at 9:15 am
Got some good new links this morning, everything from Wall possibly down to Miami and UK, Rich Brooks not wanting to Tweet & more, check it out and become a follower!!!
https://twitter.com/MisterObvious
May 1st, 2009 at 9:17 am
Ask Woody if Sam and Diane belong together…
May 1st, 2009 at 9:20 am
Matt, good story about the college kids reaction to your views on death row. Very funny. You still suck at poker. But that was a good story.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:24 am
199) Yeah… what’s your point? Name a thread that doesn’t turn into that one way or another. At least SaveUK is talking about something UK-related…
May 1st, 2009 at 9:28 am
did you just name drop? nice.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:28 am
204. Point being every news and views is hijacked by nothing more than vague babble.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:30 am
exactly 204. I went back up to look he wasnt doninating the post. Jones is upset the guy has a better source. God forbid anybody take any thunder.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:30 am
Why even would Matt put the effort into a post if it’s going to be the same boring people making the same points. Matt should just post “GO” a let it run its course in that case.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:31 am
206) Yep… which is why I go to every comments section and search for the term “SaveUK.” I have no desire to read any of the other nonsense.
May 1st, 2009 at 9:31 am
Every night I try and get on here to talk about the Carolina Hurricanes, but that SaveUK guy always gets in my way. I’m sick of it!!!!
May 1st, 2009 at 9:32 am
209) Maybe Matt should just disable comments on the site altogether? Maybe 5% of them are even worth taking the time to read.
SaveUK… you need to create a Twitter account.

Ask Joey Fatone what his stance is on euthanasia.

Matt,
I think you should walk up to each celebrity (as a reporter)and ask “True or False; SaveUK is a complete dumbass (maybe even slow) and in dire need of attention”.
Or
Brooke Shields, “I Watch the Blue Lagoon every night before bedtime, it helps me fall asleep”. (Big Smile)

Ask Hef about the John Wall situation. He knows more about 19 years olds than anyone else on that list.

Just wondering - who will chaperon Bledsoe during his visit tomorrow, and, is Coach Cal going to any derby parties and the Derby?
May 1st, 2009 at 9:54 am
This doesn’t have to do with this batch of news, but I just want to step back and say how great it is that we have Calipari. It bears repeating.
I love the new attitude he’s brought. The man has made UK fun again. It’s clear now how miserable we had all become under Gillispie, and it’s great to be able to enjoy Kentucky basketball–the on-the-court product is going to be special; our recruiting is already phenomenal; and UK is dominating the news in a positive way. Now I just can’t wait to settle some scores in the SEC and around the country!

How now we are turning down players from the top ten… and even if Gillespie was still here i still wouldn’t want here not as a player but for his character and thus destroy our schools reputation… thats why they fired a certain someone

Calipari is the anti-Gillispie…I bet this year when Jeanine Edwards asks him a question at halftime, the first response will be….that’s a great question Jeanine. This guy gets it.

MATT, ASK GRETCHEN WILSON IF SHE’S HERE FOR THE PARTY, AND THEN GIVE HER A LITTLE NUDGE.

I have thought about that several times, I`m sure Coach Cal will be very nice to Jeanine as he is to everyone because he is a nice guy. I wonder if the rumors that Billy had asked Jeanine out and she turned him down were true? That is not very professional of Billy if thats the reason he tried to embarrass her on live tv, well that makes him an a$$ if that is true. But she is a pretty woman

Matt, the brown or poweder blue tuxedos with the ruffled shirts are a bit dated and I would recommed something else.
Also, Lee Ann Womack has some very large eyes -dwarfed only by her even larger breasticles. Keep a look out.

I don’t understand that people keep saying they are
getting inside info from anyone on this site. All I have
seen is people posting what they think should or might
happen and about 10% of the time that coincides with what
really happens.

187- Because according to the Bible an abortion in the first trimester isn’t murder?
235- I don’t really have a problem with that, the board is entertaining and that’s what really matters.
