Patrick Patterson and John Calipari will be holding a press conference at 1 pm on Monday to talk about his return to Kentucky for his Junior season. Should be interesting to hear how excited Pat is about the big return.

May 10th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
that’d be something
May 10th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
Sweet!
May 10th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
It is awesome to have Patrick back. By the way Coach Cal now has over 20,000 on followers on his tweeter site. Way to go Big Blue Nation. Hopefully we can double Pete Caroll’s number
May 10th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
is it going to be shown anywhere?
May 10th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
I’m not sure if anyone has said this lately
…Dribble Drive Motion Offense…
that is all
May 10th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
The pressor is for pat to say that he likes his teammates so much and doesn’t need the money so rather than one of them lose their scholarship he’s going to walk-on next year. You heard it here first!
May 10th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
Are we having fun yet???
May 10th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
bballjoker, you need to put the bong down and slowly back away. You heard it here first!
May 10th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
#8, If that is the case we might as well go ahead and build a statue in honor of him.
May 10th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
I already built a statue. It’s a Pasta-Patterson, much akin to the Macaroni Midler
May 10th, 2009 at 8:56 pm
I hear Coach Cal is pretty excited about it.
May 10th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
#12, that is just plain silly.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
#13: Was it the 12 Twitter messages that gave that away?
May 10th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
“CHAMPIONSHIP!”
May 10th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
a press conference is completely unnecessary…what a waste of time
May 10th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
It’s almost like Patterson committing all over again. I’m excited
May 10th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
17, yes you are right, it’s a bad idea for UK to take advantage of the publicity & hold a press conference. Which will of course be shown nation wide & show future recruits that UK basketball is relevant. Which will of course mean plenty of publicity if they play for Cal… yeah complete waste of time.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
#17 If in fact the news is that he is coming back, then I agree. However, we might not see the real reason until tomorrow. But, if it were the idea of Coach Cal, then he must have his reasons. He hadn’t won a game yet for Big Blue, but hot damn, its been exciting so far!!!!!! We can certainly give a guy some working room, when he is busting his arse and representing the state and university so well.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Matt, are you gonna be doing anymore shows on CW?
May 10th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
Look at the bottom of the goal support where it says “CBS.” I’m going to miss CBS and their old school announcers who have called UK games since I was a kid. I also hate it when KENTUCKY plays on ESPN and has the 9:30 game and the first game is running late etc and we don’t get to see the first 4 or 5 minutes of the KENTUCKY game. I hate that with a passion and I hope ESPN cures that problem beginning this year or else they’ll hear the wrath of the Big Blue Nation.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
The press conference is to announce he’s decided to enter the draft.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
lol@23…….i hope not
May 10th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Who is this Patrick Patterson guy??
May 10th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
Looking forward to hearing their predictions and hopes.
17) It’s a shame you have to watch it. Oh, wait a minute…
May 10th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
PPat will be one of my favorite players of all time.
My Favorite Players:
1) Tony Delk
2) Kevin Grevey
3) Kenny Walker
4) Jeff Shephard
5) Jamal Mashburn
Sorry, but I only remember Issel and Dampier as Kentucky Colonels.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
#23) I hope your incorrect or i will have to punch myself in the face
May 10th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
25: Patterson is a two star project player that was recruited by Tubby Smith. No I’m sorry, that was Mike Williams. Patterson is an 8th grader who was recruited by Bill Gillispie.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
As a 28 year old, my favorites are:
1) Jamal Mashburn (of incredible importance and later played HS ball with his cousin)
2) Tony Delk
3) Patrick Patterson (I could easily see him moving to the top of this list)
4) Ron Mercer
5) Jeff Sheppard (came and spoke to my HS team after 98 title and is a great person)
May 10th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
I think this is a great idea 17. This enables recruits nationwide to see that Patterson is officially returning which may, just may, be something that influences Wall to come further. Maybe there’s something else behind it. Patterson isn’t declaring for th draft though, 23. That would be horrid but he’s plled his name out. Maybe there’s something bigger. Maybe Meeks will announce his return or maybe even Wall. DOUBT IT AND I MEAN I HIGHLY DOUBT IT… but who knows anymore? Probaly just to show what kind of media attention these kids will get and possibly to reel Wall in. Kick back, relax and wait for tommorow. Of course they’d schedule this damn thing for 1 where absolutely nobody can watch it.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
My guess is that Wall has already narrowed his list down to no more than three schools, but will not announce it to the public for whatever reason.
The only place as good as Kentucky for Wall is UNC. If UNC is really out of the picture as it seems they are, this decision is a no-brainer.
If Wall goes to Kentucky he gets three primary things:
(1) A team that is a legitimate contender for a National Championship
(2) The opportunity to be a star, and yet not have all of the weight on his shoulders alone.
(3) A Coach that is absolutely proven to get kids like himself straight to the NBA
These three things have been _mentioned speciffically_ by Wall during his recruitment. If his final three really is Duke, Miami and Kentucky then there is simply no decision here. Kentucky absolutely hands down end of discussion provides those three things for Wall better than any other school not named UNC.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
anyone know where it is showing?
May 10th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
I wouldn’t go as far as to say number 3 on your list 32 applies to Roy Williams. Roy never has gotten PG’s straight to the NBA and certainly no No. 1 picks. Sure, he got Felton there. But you rarely hear of him anymore and he was a junior or senior when he made his departure. Rose was the No. 1 pick and Rookie of the Year and Evans is going to at the 7th spot or close to it both after their freshman seasons under Cal playing the point. Kentucky is a no-brainer regardless is UNC comes into the picture.
May 10th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
34) Roy didn’t recruit Felton, just inherited him too

I think you are full of horseshit!! However, your comment makes for an interesting thought. If Patterson were to do that, they should name an annual award after him for college basketball’s non-scholarship player of the year.
May 10th, 2009 at 10:02 pm
For those fans of all UK sports, the womens softball team made the tourney in the Colombus regional…congrats ladies! Beat those Buckeyes (after you beat BYU first though)
May 10th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
35, that’s true. I just don’t think he’s giving us the truth. I think he’s already narrowed that list. Maybe not a decision already. I wish he’d just give people the damn list.
May 10th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
So when is Jai Lucas announcing?
May 10th, 2009 at 10:37 pm
34 good points on the Roy Williams/PG thing.
From the standpoint of logic, Wall should sign with Kentucky.
I’m concerned about the non-logic factors surrounding Wall.
May 10th, 2009 at 10:42 pm
250 Pat Patterson use to be Ali’s bodygaurd, gawd don’t you know anything. Keep up man…
May 10th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
So is tomorrow’s presser just so PPat can talk about how awesome UK is and hoe great its gonna be to play for Coach Cal? If so, that is flippin’ bad ass and recruits should be paying attention.
May 10th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
I don’t think there will be any surprise announcements tomorrow. This is just a clever ploy to get some more publicity for the program and Patterson. I am quite sure Cal will plant the seed that Patterson has Player of the Year potential… he’ll get that PR campaign started.
I’m starting to feel sorry for the other SEC schools. It’s getting to the point where they shouldn’t even bother showing up next year.
May 10th, 2009 at 10:55 pm
lol@ Big Baby sinking Orlando.
May 10th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
Bruce Pearl, Billy Donovan, and Rick Stansbury were out to dinner the other night. They were talking about the upcoming season, non-conference schedules, recruiting. Of course, Bruce was also talking about the attractive 20-year old waitress waiting on their table. Finally, the topic comes around to Calipari and UK basketball. Rick says, “Well, I only got to face ‘em once. But you guys, you gotta play ‘em twice.” To which Billy and Bruce look at each other and say, “S-hit. You’re right. F-uck this, we quit.” It feels so good to be feared again.
May 10th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
#22 UK will still play some Saturday games on CBS.
May 11th, 2009 at 12:39 am
Wow, extra dead in here tonight…
May 11th, 2009 at 1:06 am
43- Kiffin rode the publicity train as long as he could, why shouldn’t we?
May 11th, 2009 at 6:31 am
Come on. The more publicity Calipari gets for UK the better. When a player like Henry says he doesn’t know much about Kentucky that is not good.
May 11th, 2009 at 7:44 am
Henry’s parents weren’t going to let their kids pass on Kansas a second time. His father knew enough about Kentucky and our history in basketball. His brother is 23 that would have made him 9 to 12 in the mid 90’s. Parents made a big push for Kansas and staying close to home. I wish them luck until we play them.
May 11th, 2009 at 7:48 am
Don’t be suprised if this is to announce a signed letter of intent.
