Well, this is offically the slowest day in the history of news. So, I am forced to duplicate again a report about John Wall that is essentially void of any new info. ESPN’s Andy Katz writes that Wall will choose between UK and Miami and a decision for the Hurricanes would be one of the greatest recruiting coups of the last decade. Here is what the wee little analyst had to say:
A John Wall decision could come as early as this weekend with Miami and Kentucky being the two likeliest destinations for the top point guard in the Class of 2009 to land. The Word of God Christian Academy (Raleigh, N.C.) playmaker can elevate either one of these programs to the NCAA tournament. Wall does not have to sign by the end of the spring signing period next Wednesday. If Kentucky lands him, then the drama was unnecessary (based on his original destination being Memphis when John Calipari was the head coach). If Miami gets Wall, then you can chalk this down as one of the top recruiting coups of the last 10 years. Hurricanes coach Frank Haith will have pulled off quite a feat if he gets Wall to replace Jack McClinton, making the Canes an NCAA team and ensuring Miami is a must-see destination for hoops for the next 10 months.
Also, Andy includes the list of the players invited to the Chicago pre-draft camp - a list that includes one Jodie Meeks. Katz says Meeks is a fringe player, bordering on the first round but with a lot of second round likelihood. I thought Calipari said he was not going to attend the pre-draft camps and only do private workouts, but I could be wrong.

i would actually like to hear the rousing “honoring” of Rick P by Dick Vitalis … it’ll be interesting contrast to the details of the mess off the court that he’s gotten himself into

Hey MATT JONES, Can you promise us that Wall will decide by the 20th?

I think Kentucky is going to be elevated to the NCAA tournament with or without Wall. Brilliant f***ing deduction by Katz.

I doubt 3 people in Miami (excluding coaches) know who John Wall is. My 6 year old came in from school and asked if there is any news on John Wall.

I think it comes down to if Wall wants to be the man and the only man on the team, which will give him all of the Golory (Miami) or be a part of history and will always be remembered as a great player that helped return the program back to the top (UK).

Well the decision could have come the last ten to twenty weekends. He will sign whenever he signs.
The decision comes down to these two appeals: be the best or have the best time
He goes to Miami it will be because he wants to spend his one year vacation in sunny Miami. Parties, the beach, the girls, no rules and the ball. He can be the show and run the team how he sees fit. Haith is a solid coach but he doesn’t have the pull to reign in Wall and the entourage. They’ll be good but nothing special and he’ll have a one year tour of all the ACC venues I think he loves.
If he chooses UK it will be because he wants to win and become the best player he possibly can. His stock really wont change that much but if truely wants to be NBA ready and follow the path of DRose he’ll be here. The team could be something special and have a deep run come March. The system will showcase him and his abilities but it wont be the same atmosphere he’ll have in Miami.
I think his decision will not be over Miami or UK but of where JWall the person is right now. How mature is Wall and what kind of a player does he want to be 5 years from now. Does he want to be Chris Paul or Sebastian Telfair?
