Three quick things….
— Cal named his three assistants and surprised some folks by moving Rod Strickland from Director of Basketball Ops to an assistant. He joins Orlando Antigua and John Robic. This allows Strickland to recruit more often.
— Calipari found out about John Wall at 3 am last night and was awaken by the news. That had to be nice.
— UK still doesnt have the LOI from Wall, but hopes to get it tomorrow from what I am told.
In case you were wondering, “John Wall” is the 6th most searched term on Twitter today. Awww UK fans….

Well guys I was wrong. I had been advocating for weeks now that Wall would choose another school. Today is a beautiful day for UK FANS, A terrible day for the rest of the college basketball world. This is great! I have never been happier being wrong!

UK fans have crashed one of the servers for Rivals that connects to latest news etc… I had a welcome John Wall to UK update on my twitter page three days ago that’s how sure I was he was coming… Cal already knows who is going to be off scholly and who isn’t. They were pretty sure they were going to get Wall from the beginning. Got to admire Coach Cal’s confidence: that is what sets him apart from other coaches, in my opinion. He doesnt doubt his own abilities.

Have to mention that moving Strickland to recruiter/assistant coach is a good move on Coach Cal’s part cause one of the top pgs in the 2010 class, Kryie Irving, is a big fan of Rod Strickland.

The roster can’t be finalized until Jodie decides. But other than his spot, I expect to hear news in the next several days as to who goes and who stays. My guess that the most suseptable would be Williams(no doubt),Stewart, Galloway, and Liggins.

• Kentucky’s Jodie Meeks has even more reason to return to play for John Calipari now that John Wall has committed to play the point. Having Wall alongside him would take more pressure off Meeks. NBA sources expect Calipari to convince Meeks to return just like Patrick Patterson did last week

I’d just like to point out to everyone that Wall committed BEFORE Patterson, in terms of their respective signing periods. Those demanding that UK “move on” from Wall should feel pretty stupid today, and admit they were being irrational.

54) I think the Fab 5’s overall rankings were higher, but I really do believe our overall quality and depth are better. Orton is #22… was top 10 before injury. Hood was in the top 20 back in the day. Don’t let these numbers fool you… this class is STACKED.
Fab 5 had instant gamechangers in Webber, Howard, and Rose. Wall, Cousins… Orton, Bledsoe, Hood, Dodson… in addition to Patterson, Meeks, Miller and the rest. This team is gonna be SCARY good.
When, in comparison, the Fab 5 was just that. The Fab 5 players and then the talent dropped off severely. We’re not gonna have that problem as badly.

48) Padgett and Delk will be on the staff, but not as regular assistants. They basically get to learn Cal’s system and the ins and outs of coaching, and after a year or two, they can maybe land an assistant spot somewhere else (or even here when Cal’s guys get better jobs elsewhere).
Maybe that’s why Cal’s cutting back on the walkons…he needs their seats for his additional/visiting coaches! Padgett, Delk, possibly a Chinese coach, etc.
