It is a commonly shared opinion that Michael Gilchrist is the best high school basketball player in the country. Not in his class. In the country. Gilchrist, a 6′6″ shooting guard who plays for St. Patrick High School in New Jersey (Derrick Caracter!), ranks as the top player in the class of 2011 and was named as the “Most Promising Prospect” at the NBA Top 100 camp before wowing scouts (at least ESPN’s) with his talent and effort yesterday at the LeBron James Skill Academy. And, he’s a legit 2011 prospect. He’s 15. Basically, Gilchrist appears to be the total package and a recruiting nut’s dream signature. Well, there is some good news out there for the recruiting nuts of the Kentucky variety as Gilchrist’s mom says that her son loves UK and Villanova and that the perception nationally is that he’ll end up in Lexington. But, like all good news, this comes tempered with one caveat: Gilchrist wants to be “heavily recruited” and says that the race for his signature is still wide open.
However, you have to admit that it’s nice to be in the ball game again.

I don’t see how WWW could let his nephew play for anyone other than Calipari.

a great little blip from the textsfromlastnight website :
“(773): smoked weed with Joakim Noah last night….if he was half as fast to the basket as he is to grab a joint from me we’d have another championship on our hands”

I wish it didn’t come down to UK and Nova. I have always liked our
chances with Gilchrist and still think it will be at UK. However,
Jay Wright is a great recruiter as well. Jay can battle Calipari
to the end.
I still think he becomes a Wildcat, UK Wildcat

We’ll get Gilchrist. Cal will recruit him hard.

7. Jay Wright and Calipari battled it out for Tyreke Evans as well. That turned out well for Calipari.

#9 and I think it will turn out well for Gilchrist, pretty much for
the same reasons Cal won out with Evans

I’m wondering if Gilcrest is 6′6 and only 15 years old, just how big will he be when we finally get him on campus?? 6′8 or better is my guess. Does that make him a 2, 3, or 4?? Does it even matter in the DDM??
