[Moderated by Matt Jones]

UKAthletics.com posted the official 12-man roster for John Calipari’s inaugural season this afternoon. It looks like Darnell Dodson is on the team, which should quell any rumors about his eligibility. Also, this means we can now move forward with assessing and breaking down every player’s interests, nicknames and favorite foods.

July 7th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Too bad the season doesn’t start tomorrow.
July 7th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
I prayed they would not give John Wall #11–I know that is his previous number, but I just hope the ghost of Saul Smith does not jinx him. I wish Midnight Madness was today. GO CATS!! Give’em HELL!
July 7th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
i dont see matt pilgrims name…
mm said he wasnt going anywhere, i dont get it.
July 7th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
Wow, that looks so good!! Is it November yet?…..
July 7th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
im buying my wall jersey asap
July 7th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
roster looks far better than if BCG was here…..but I’m a little concerned with the depth at the guard positions……say bledsoe/wall play together leaving dodson/hood/harris?/liggins for spell minutes…….lets just hope wall/bledsoe get 99% of the minutes and they all of the sudden develop a consistent outside jumper!!
at least it will an exciting brand of basketball vs. that bullshit we’ve been forced to cheer for under tubby & billy
July 7th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Stevenson is weighing in at a hefty 207. He must have been/ be doing some squats and calf raises in the off-season.
July 7th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
Only one player under 6′4″!!
July 7th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
UKCoachCalipari…I told him, I’m ok with those places too because we will still bring 18-20k Big Blue fans. Only problem would be if IU fans would show.
Coach Cal talking shit to Crean on Twitter about playing at neutral sites.
July 7th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
demarcus cousins eddie
razr ramone
jon hoodrat
darius miller time
peppermint pat patterson

July 7th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Yet another sign I’m grossly out of shape: I weigh more than Patrick Patterson? That can’t be right, can it?
July 7th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
It could have been:
Coach: Gillispie
Porter
Stevenson
Harris
Harrellson
Vilarino
Orton
Hood
Pilgrim
Miller-Maybe
Liggins-Maybe
Assortment of Walk-Ons with Scholarships
July 7th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
I thought Cousins looked taller than 6′9 or 10 when I saw him in person.
July 7th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
That would have been a .500 team at best.
July 7th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
this year’s UK roster is scary good
July 7th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
You could add Galloway to the bunch.
July 7th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
take a close look - the players expecting to see the most minutes consist of:
1 junior
3 soph
4 fresh
i’ve been told JC likes to rotate 8 players in a game depending on matchups and/or who is hot……..that would mean prob 2-3 players will be spot minutes type guys…..that includes……Hood, Stevenson, Harris, Jorts…….
so to have to depend on that lack of experience leads me to believe not to expect too much……but again
at least it will be more exciting!!!
July 7th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
THIS is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in some time.
July 7th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
this is probably the first season in a long time that everyone on the roster can dunk
July 7th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
deAndre the giant Liggins
July 7th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
No link Beisner?
July 7th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
Perry’s nickname should just be “The Voyager” or something of that sort until he brings his TPG (travels per game) under 2.0
July 7th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Eric “Get Sh!t Right” Bledsoe
July 7th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Darnell “someone stole my” Dodson. A play on words, should be Datsun…. Get it?!?!
July 7th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
13 - that is a very sobering thought….
July 7th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
18 -
1 Junior = first round pick
2 Sophmore = very good players, just not quit NBA ready
4 freshman = 50% are NBA ready NOW, other 50% will be NBA ready in by year 2
With talent like this, experience will play a factor in some games (like title games or when the refs are quick on the whistle), but majority of games it will not be a factor.
July 7th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
i wonder if they’ll be wearing the same uniforms this year. what do you all think? i liked the new ones, but i wouldnt mind getting something even newer to usher in the cal era … and kick the BCG era to the curb
July 7th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
The college game is changing. Seniors are nice and all but most teams seem to be Sophs and Jrs. Rather, I would say that more important than senior leadership is talent at the PG position.
Think cruch time, where execution is key. At that point the ball is only in one or two people’s hands. And we have JW and PP. I will take those 2 against anyone else in the country!
July 7th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Some serious size there
July 7th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
man….orton and cousins are virtually the same size
July 7th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
Still no Dusty Mills on the roster?
July 7th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
vote for nader…..wtf?
July 7th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
13. Bledsoe said he was ready to commit to UK under Gillispie, so add one more in there. It still isn’t a very exciting roster, at least not compared to what we have now.
July 7th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
#39 When did Bledsoe say that? I thought Cyprien or Cox inferred that a commitment
from an unnamed PG was coming, but I never saw Bledsoe confirm that he was the one.
July 7th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
Get Perry some more Pop Tarts.
July 7th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
41. Yeah, I remember Coach Cyp saying that they were on the verge of getting a commitment from a talented point guard. They never said the name so the only thing that you could do was infer that it was Bledsoe. Who really knows?
July 7th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
41. I think the pg was “unnamed” because he was too young to be named…
July 7th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
41. I heard it from an interview with Bledsoe prior to the DFC. At the time he said that he was ready to commit to UK before Gillispie got fired, but that he was more interested in Florida and Memphis (again at that time). I remember Cyprien’s comments as well, but these were from Bledsoe.
July 7th, 2009 at 4:33 pm
I guess the “Center” position is no longer en vouge.
July 7th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
Interesting… with Meeks gone, no one claimed the number 23.
July 7th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
we have 4 guys that can effectively be a center but theyre athletic enough to labeled a forward, and personally, im completely ok with that.
July 7th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
47…no one should wear that number unless they deserve it.
July 7th, 2009 at 7:27 pm
I believe Cory Sears still has one remaining year of eligibility… and we need another athletic forward, so maybe Cal will give him a call.
July 7th, 2009 at 8:09 pm
oh no no centers. just kidding. man the roster looks good but so does the coach!
July 7th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
i cannot wait until basketball season. and i just turned 21 today.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Any word yet on who the walk-ons will be. I assume Dwight Perry is one because he’s been here four years.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
Also, I think it might be time to take down Santa Kige. He’s been up for like 2 years running.
July 8th, 2009 at 12:18 am
Finally have numbers to put on the player shirts. They’re in my link.
July 8th, 2009 at 2:11 am
Again, as I previously posted, Stevenson has lost weight– if anything. I have no idea what his role will be on this team. He will have to earn minutes over the likes of Cousins, Patterson and Orton. Lets be real, without the ability to dribble or drive, I don’t see much of an opportunity. Especially when there are 3 post players who are guaranteed minutes that are paired with the guard/forward play we will present. Ramon and Perry will be going on one helluva ride this year– on the bench.
July 8th, 2009 at 2:18 am
Eric Bledsoe is going to be the unanimous favorite player of many– write that shit down!
July 8th, 2009 at 8:39 am
“DNP-CD” Liggins
“Havaseat” Harrellson
July 8th, 2009 at 8:59 am
#24
Right on Q…LMAO….He will be forever known as Eric “get Sh!t right” Bledsoe!!!
July 8th, 2009 at 9:50 am
not sure about my math…but if you exclude shrimpy
bledsoe….our average height is 6′7.5in!!!!
we are going to look like the Dallas Mavericks next season!!
and btw… bledsoe is stud….he’s just not tall!
miller time will be crowd fav next season…that’s my pre-season pick…
July 8th, 2009 at 9:51 am
that is suppose to read 6 feet and 7.5 inches average height…
hard to shoot / drive through that shit….our size / speed
will cause major problems and mismatches galore!!
GO CATS!!!
