The internet is hot with the rumor that Josh Selby has de-comitted from Tennessee. Selby, Rivals #2 point guard and #7 player in the 2010 class, gave a verbal to the Vols back in September of 2008 and finally gave Bruce Pearl an explosive playmaker at the point guard position. Prior to his commitment, Selby had scheduled a visit to Florida, Virginia Tech and Memphis and had already spent some time on campus with the Filthy Cards.
So, naturally, the next question is how involved UK will get now that Selby is opened back up (that’s what she said). The UK and Selby relationship never really took off prior to Calipari but anything is possible here at Point Guard U under Coach Cal and Selby is rumored to end up at a Nike school, which UK certainly is. But, will this really translate into some big-time interest? We shall see. However, look for the aforementioned Memphis Tigers to be a big player as well since newly committed Will Barton is Selby’s cousin and Selby recently transferred from famed DeMatha High to play at Lake Clifton with Barton. Or maybe Barton will decommit too and they’ll both end up in Lexington. I mean, it would sound ridiculous if not for the spring we’ve already had this year, right?
If nothing else, this certainly makes for one heck of a punchline to the Bruce Pearl goes to Israel joke.

If it were to happen, it’d be great. I just don’t see it, though. And, somehow, I’m just not too worried about who we’ll end up with 2010 just yet. Calipari is on the case, after all.

I have no rooting interest in Selby. If he leaves Tennessee, Kentucky has already gained in UT’s loss. I want the SEC to be stronger, but not if it means Tennessee has to be good.

I never could understand why this kid wanted to climb into the Big Orange clown-car. No matter where he goes, I’m glad he came to his senses. Maybe he saw the American Jews vs. Mexican Jews score and wanted no part of that classless showboat’s program?

6- agreed. as long as Selby is not at UT or any other SEC school…or U of L, Indiana, North Carolina, Duke, or any other of our rivalry schools…lol…don’t see him and/or Barton at UK…and honestly, I am sick and tired of players committing and de-committing…unless there is a coaching change…in those circumstances it is of course ok and understandable…otherwise, I’m sick of it…I understand that these are young, impressionable kids…and that a lot of these coaches put the full court press(ure) on these kids to commit…and that sometimes a kid commits under that pressure and then later has a change of mind/heart…Cal doesn’t do that and doesn’t need to do that…if a kid gets an offer from Cal and UK, that is an honor and a privilege…if you don’t want it and don’t want to be a part of this program, then we will sign someone who does…

Unless Shelby is a one and done I don’t see him at Memphis because Will Barton’s brother is also Shelby’s cousin and also a point guard. Also, I want Knight!

Bruce has a nightmare brewing. Pastner at Memphis and Calipari at UK. If Selby goes to Memphis, Arizona fans will be watching closely. Did AU make a mistake? Miller is an outstanding coach and did a fine job recruiting this past year, but …
