Gee, thanks ESPN. The good folks at The Worldwide Leader, no doubt egged on by my anti-ESPN notes in the News and Views post, have set the start time for the UK-U of L football game for noon, allowing only alcoholics and my friends sufficient time to tailgate. The game is September 19 and will be aired on ESPNU.
Now keep critiquing!

That sucks! I’ll still tailgate for it though. That will be a long day!
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:04 pm
guess I’m covered for tail gate time. whew! thanks
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:09 pm
I don’t get ESPNU.
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:13 pm
“Allowing only alcoholics and my friends sufficient time to tailgate.” Also allowing only those 17 people with ESPNU to view the game……..Sucks to be me. I’ve got 43 shopping channels on my cable but NO ESPNU??
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:13 pm
Ughh, that’s 11:00am in Chicago on a Saturday (the game is still on Saturday yes?) for those counting at home. Holy hangover batman!

The ESPN/SEC contract is great, but the whole ESPNU gig is going to piss a lot, and I mean a whole lot, of Cat’s fans off!
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:21 pm
Isn’t ESPNU non-HD?
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:23 pm
ESPNUHD exists, it just depends if you get it/cable provider provides it. I will likely be at my UK bar in Chicago regardless, so it matters not.
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:24 pm
7 - Correct, non-HD.
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Because of the SEC deal, a LOT more cable systems in Kentucky will be adding ESPNU and ESPNU HD soon. That’s obvious!
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:25 pm
I have the entire HD package on Dish network and ESPNU-HD is not available for me. Wish it was.
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:30 pm
I have the U. YAY! It’s like % bucks for the ESPN package. It’s worth it.
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:30 pm
5, not %
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:39 pm
This freaking SUCKS, why not 7:45 on the big channel……
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:43 pm
ESPN-HD is included in Insight’s HD packages if you live in Lexington. But if you are in Lex you should just go to the game! Away games will be nice and clear!
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:44 pm
ESPNU? Curses!
July 22nd, 2009 at 1:46 pm
I have the HD package from Insight here in LEX and about 3-4 months ago they created a HD channel for ESPNU. I believe its on channel 922 (I’m at work so I can’t confirm).
July 22nd, 2009 at 2:00 pm
ESPNU does exist in HD on Insight here in Louisville. However I will be at the game so I don’t really care. 12:00 sucks, and #5, the game is on a Saturday…
July 22nd, 2009 at 2:10 pm
a fairer question: will ESPNU’s HD cameras be there? nothing worse than Low D resolution on an High D TV.
The blame for this scheduling falls on Jurich and Kragthorpe for pooping the bed together.
Along with the beauty of UofL’s football demise is the subsequent demise of the Govenor’s Cup.
July 22nd, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Hey, it could be worse… we could have the Tuesday afternoon special that UL FB still gets.
July 22nd, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Try living on the West Coast, my game will start at 9 so I’ll be tailgating(apartmentgating) at like 6 a.m. Their definitely won’t be any bars open in time for my sake.
July 22nd, 2009 at 3:10 pm
I’ll roll out of bed and yawn straight into a war zone. It just sucks that you don’t have the day to party and build up to the main event.
