Erik Daniels goes 7th overall in D-League draft

by @ 11:17 am. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

The NBA D-League held it’s annual draft on Friday and former Kentucky forward Erik Daniels was chosen 7th overall by the Erie BayHawks.  Daniels, who has spent time with the Sacramento Kings in the past, has spent the last two seasons playing (quite well) in Italy and Spain.  Daniels joined other former SEC stars Chris Richard, Jermareo Davidson and Derrick Byars in the top 10.

If you’re a real basketball nerd like me, take some time to go through the list of guys drafted into the D-League this year and take a trip down memory lane.  From failed McDonald’s All-Americans (Mohamed Abukar) to college stars of over a decade ago (Kris Clack) to local familiars (Russellville’s Tony Key) the list of drafted players is quite the fun read.

Tony Key….I remember seeing him play in the 2000 state high school boy’s basketball tourney. I forgot the name of his school though, what was it?

I will give you one guess as to the name of his high school.

Eddie Robinson was unstoppable in NBA Live for a two season stretch. He clearly never realized his potential. Didn’t the Bulls give him like a $40 million contract? I hope he’s just playing in the D-League for fun.

Glenn Pakulak is punting for N’Awlins this week. He booted his first ball 56 yards.
    Attaboy Pak.

Cartier Martin is a past UK recruiting target. Man, Fred Gibson, the former UGA football player, was also selected.

  12. Seymour Says:

Key did not graduate from Russellville. He left school and transferred to some school in California(?) IIRC. His strong suit was that he was tall, not particularly talented. I don’t expect him to make the grade for the D-League cut.

Whatever happened to Woo and Allenye? Key will follow in their foot steps.

#12 Nobody said that Tony Key graduated from Russelville. Key was also very talented just had no work ethic and couldn’t stay out of trouble. He also thought that he was a whole lot better than what he really was.
