Its Time For a Change

by @ 12:00 am. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Its Thursday night and there is very little news on the UK scene. Patrick Patterson’s decision to cut off his afro can only be talked about so much, so thoughts move ahead to this weekend and the Kentucky game with Delaware State. These next two games are both likely wins, but they are still critical for the tone they will set for the rest of the non-conference season. With that in mind, it is time for Billy Gillispie to pull the trigger and make DeAndre Liggins the starting point guard. Over the last two games, it has become clear that as much as we may root for Michael Porter and hope him to have improved during the off-season, he simply isnt ready to lead a team on the level that Kentucky hopes to play at this year. Because of that Liggins should take the reins and become what we all know him to be……the Point Guard for the forseeable future at UK.

The current inhabitant of that position, Michael Porter, is arguably the most scrutinized UK player since Saul Smith. He has been the de facto starter at UK for most of Billy Clyde’s tenure and with the team under his control, there have been a great number of struggles. When Gillispie has been asked about Porter at Point Guard, he always comes back to the “if you earn it in practice, you play” explanation. And based on what we have seen on the actual court, Michael Porter must be one hell of a practice player. In the actual games, he has struggled to bring the ball up the floor, had numerous turnovers and been a liability on the defensive end. As such, he has often been the face of UK’s struggles to most fans. During the North Carolina game, as Ty Lawson had his way with Porter on both ends of the court, it became clear to even the “I never criticize anyone” Dick Vitale…..the time has come to make a change at point guard.

The other options at the spot arent necessarily sure things. DeAndre Liggins has shown some flashes of greatness. His ability to take the ball to the basket is immense and he has potential on the defensive end. Some (including me) wonder if he is a true point guard, but whether he is or isnt, he will be a great player at Kentucky. As for the other main option, Kevin Galloway, one wonders what has happened with him at this point. If Kevin has been unable to see the floor in these two games, when Point Guard play has been such an issue, one wonders what his role will be with the team in the future. But even with these difficulties and uncertainties, one thing is clear…..Porter is not able to get the job done as the starting point guard.

So what would be the rationale for leaving the more experienced Porter in over the inexperienced Liggins? Well one might argue that the younger player may make more mistakes. However it is hard to imagine that more mistakes may come from the position than are now. PG has been a constant turnover machine, and it isnt likely that will change soon. I would rather let someone like Liggins get the reps, make the mistakes and try to get better….than to see the same mistakes made, mostly due to a lack of ability. If we assume that PG is going to produce a lot of turnovers (a safe assumption for the rest of the year in my view), then why not put someone there who can add to the other realms of the game…..solid defense and the ability to penetrate to the basket. Liggins can do that, Porter cant. Errors are going to come, but only one player has the potential to reach a higher ground and that is DeAndre.

Earlier this year, Billy Gillispie lamented that he hadnt put Jared Carter in a position to succeed. That same mistake is happening now. Because of his continued starting role, Gillispie is not putting Michael Porter in a position to succeed. He simply doesnt have the ability to be a high level Div I point guard. He could be a serviceable backup or role player, but by forcing him to guard the other team’s best PG at the beginning of games, he gets put in a hole where his limitations are shown and where mistakes will be made. Thus Porter makes mistakes that are not due to lack of effort, fans get upset and the team struggles. In hockey terms, Porter’s “+/-” ratio is horrible, but it is mainly because he is forced to play against players that are above him. Put him in with the second unit and in reserve and he could shine, with much less pressure on him. It is time for Gillispie to give him that chance.

Ultimately, all fans want the same thing…..to see UK succeed. But a close second to that is a desire to see the UK players do well. Billy Gillispie has a plan with his players that he cultivates with sincerity and it is difficult to question his expertise. But in a similar vein to the Mark Coury experiment last year, this one simply doesnt seem to work, and in many ways is even worse. While Coury played only a handful of minutes every game, Porter is an important part of the team’s rotation. If he is going to continue in that role, he needs to do so in a manner where he can be effective. That is most likely to happen if Gillispie takes a step back from his normal approach, allows Liggins the time to flourish (and make mistakes) and makes him the starting point guard.

More all day, including a KYE on Delaware State, a look at the college basketball world and some news on Maui…..

  1. GoCats2 Says:

Liggins is the future, let him learn on the court especially against teams like Delaware State and Longwood.
Miller should be playing more also. His ballhandling skills and offensive weapons are far superior to Harris. If there is a scorer on the other team that we want Harris to cover then fine, but other than that it should be Miller.

  2. BillyClyde4President Says:

THANK GOD!!!!! No offense but Porter couldn’t feed the ball to the post if he and P-Pat were the only two out there!!!

  3. BillyClyde4President Says:

Matt, this line killed me. I peed a little in my pants when I first read it.

“Michael Porter must be one hell of a practice player.”

  4. SagaciousMind Says:

Lawson didnt really school him on offense like I thought and I was surprised at that little drive he had to the basket and made it…but overall IMO, Porter is not a point guard. He is more of a shooting guard and if he didnt have to handle the ball so much, we might be able to see this shot we’ve heard so much about. It’s kinda like with Ramel Bradley when Tubby realized he didnt need to play point. I always assumed the change would be made, but it looks like it may be made earlier in the season than I thought. I just hope Porter can learn and turn out to be a decent little player for us. I hope he can become a threat from the 3…but he hasnt really even taken any shots so who knows. I just hope there are changes to the game and get this team turned around…at least get all the turnover problems dealt with, it’s already cost them one possibly two games.

  5. E-townCatfan1 Says:

Porter should play point, point to where people should park in the parking lot.

  6. SagaciousMind Says:

    Good interview with Billy Gillispie

  7. The Hater Says:

It’s okay to be critical. I think we would all agree that Porter isn’t getting it done but let’s at least show some respect for guy’s that wear the uniform. I have seen a distinct lack of that for awhile now and I’m dismayed that it has extended to this new era of UK basketball. We should all remember the words of Pitino when talking about the Unforgettables and how Kentucky fans behaved towards the players and the coaches when they didn’t live up to “fan expectations.” When things are going great is not what defines you. It’s when things are at their hardest or bleakest and the only thing you have going for is hope, charity and faith. My grandfather always spoke to me about these things and how it carried him through the Great Depression and I think it’s applicable even in the sporting world.

  8. 10, 2, and 4 Says:

There’s likely an inverse relationship going on — the more lobbying for this switch that Gillispie hears the less chance Liggins starts. What we need to do is start a reverse psychology campaign.

  9. Roy McAvoy Says:

Let up on Porter. He is not the reason we lost both games. Did he contribute to the losses? Absolutely!! Last time I watched the games we got our A$$ spanked in every aspect besides the low post. UNC showed what we are lacking by double teaming Patterson. Is Porter the answer at PG? No!! Is he the blame for both loses? No!! We have numerous players that need to cut down on turn-overs and contribute more on offense and stop standing around and work for shots.

  10. greenwell Says:

I wanted to see Porter do well too but something is not adding up. How can he lack the confidence during game time but be worthy of starting based on his practice play? It’s an easy question to answer - ask Josh Carrier, ask Brandon Stockton, ask Desmond Allison, ask Richard Madison and ask Andre Riddick.

Here is an interesting quote on Michael Porter from April 2006 on Rivals.com. Love the last line.

“Over the past four years, one prep basketball prospect in Northern California that has always been a treat to watch and speak with is Modesto (Calif.) Christian point man Michael Porter. While his decision to play at the University of Kentucky has left some west coast college basketball fans gloomy, there’s little doubt that Porter will win over the Bluegrass State and its fans quickly with his hustle and shooting skills.”

  11. MoBettaBlue Says:

#9 is right, it’s not just porter, the entire team needs dribbling practice and pass practice. As i watched UCLA take an L tonight, I remembered how in the good ol’ days we’d still be 3 weeks away from significant games.

The season starts so early now, so let’s use that as an excuse for a little while.

  12. The Hater Says:

My opinion on Carrier was cemented during his shooting performance on his Senior Day. The pressure was off and he performed. Carrier had the talent and ability but just couldn’t make it click when the lights came on but when he had nothing left? He played his best.

Kind of like Bobby Perry in the NCAA tournament. Too bad no one else had his heart in those games his Junior and Senior year. We wouldn’t have gotten bounced in the second round like we did.

  13. Browski Says:

Porter didn’t play much in the 2nd half against NC. It’s coming, just a matter of when. I initially said 5 games, if he doesn’t start Sat. then it will be the next game… Take that one to the bank!!! Porter would fair better as a backup SG. I’m sure the football team could use him if he wants to start. We need to look better… I got too excited after the 1st exhibition, I expected good offense. We’ll get it together, give us a little time. Go Blue!!@!

  14. The Hater Says:

Porter was recruited as a backup/energy guy. He’s just being asked to do too much with the loss of Jasper and the inexperience of guys like Liggins and Galloway.

  15. SagaciousMind Says:

Anyone see that VMI scored 133 points tonight? When was the last time that happened in a college game? Or has that ever happened? I know UK scored 124 that time against LSU. That’s why losing to VMI wasn’t that bad. They’ve already scored around 300+ points in 3 games. That’s just crazy!

  16. The Hater Says:

    Texas Tech scored 167 tonight.

  17. The Hater Says:

No, that wasn’t the football team either.

  18. SagaciousMind Says:

Ok I take that back, I just saw that Texas Tech scored 167 points tonight! 77 1st half 90 2nd half. That’s crazy. They played East Central, whomever that is, and the score was 167-115.

  19. greenwell Says:

    14) agreed, great point. Anyone see that Texas Tech scored 167 tonight………in basketball. Leach can definitely put up some points on the football field but not that many.

  20. razor.ramon.is.your.father Says:

Unfortunately Porter is a bit slow and lacks confidence which in turn knocks the entire rotation and beginning of sets off-pace. All 5 defensive players have time to front, jump screens and/or double b/c he just can’t get step 1 accomplished against opponents’ starting pg. I agree that he is a good role player and certainly would be helpful in maintaining status quo off the bench. But to put the offense into action from bringing ball into play to ultimately getting patterson the touch, it all starts w/ the pg.

  21. The Hater Says:

Basketball pet peeve of mine: Watching the other team grab a defensive rebound, the rest of the team is downcourt and the opposing team’s lone player takes a swipe at the ball. That’s how you get stupid, cheap fouls. Get back down court and play some D.

That it happens in the NBA makes it even harder to stomach.

  22. The Hater Says:

Breaking News: Texas Tech scored 167 tonight. Also, Lincoln shot in Ford’s Theater.

  23. greenwell Says:

167 points is impressive no matter who you play but check out these stats: 10 guys in double figs, 62 reb (24 offensive), 35 assists, 18 steals, 34 fouls and the most telling of all, attendance 5,505 (surely that was paid attendance).

  24. Roy McAvoy Says:

was this senior night for texas tech?

  25. razor.ramon.is.your.father Says:

I heard Pat was looking at horse farms in Lex via Craigslist immediately following TT’s win.

  26. Ken T. Ucky Says:

Luckily UK has a pretty weak non-conference schedule to improve. I think they’ll be decent by January.

  27. Ken T. Ucky Says:

And do we still have time to schedule East Central?

  28. sladet87 Says:

Mike should work at arby’s the way he’s handing out turnovers.

  29. fritos Says:

While I agree with your general sentiment, I think your focal points and outright grandstandish attitude make it read like garbage.

  30. catinlon27 Says:

well when ur starting Pg cant dribble with his left hand its pretty easy to shut him down. also when he picks his dribble up as much or more than perry stevenson does he should not be playing pg at all.

  31. TommyT46 Says:

I too think Porter would be better as a back-up shooting guard.I also believe CBC when he says this team is not that far away from being a really good team.We must remember that some of the guys that will eventually help us reach our goals are freshmen and it takes a little time, much as last year, but I think this year it will be much sooner.Lets not forget, the ultimate goal is to win the SEC and a good seed in the NCAA tournament.

  32. adaircam4 Says:

Unlike Obama, DeAndre is change I can believe in.

  33. Clandestine Says:

The worst thing about being a UK fan is watching other fans blast away at our own players/coaches.

  34. E Cat Says:

Yes, it is not all Porter’s fault. He’s not getting a lot of help. But that said, it’s always been pretty apparent he doesn’t have the skills to play at this level. And he isn’t a shooting guard cause dude can’t shoot and he’s a little small to guard big wings (remember the UAB game whe BCG wouldn’t pull him off Vaden for some reason).

Porter was essentially brought in by Tubby as a favor to his dad Gary Porter, Chuck Hayes’ HS coach, and to play a backup role. That said, I always questioned UK making him the first recruit of that class.

It’s just going to take time to get experience and we just have to slowly upgrade the roster through recruiting.

  37. Meeksismybabydaddy Says:

    18) East Central high school? haha

  38. Red Rooster Says:

Folks who know Deandre are concerned with his state of mind regarding his academic load combined with the athletic demands. He is a tad overwhelmed as I hear and I hope he has the presence of mind and composure to lead this team. I am a big fan.

  39. deuceinyoeye Says:

who the hell talks in hockey terms?

  40. Burly Says:

Porter is not a shooting guard either as he guides the ball towards the rim.

Sloan & Krebs should see more minutes in that role. Liggins will make some absoulutely bone head plays but he will stuff the stat sheet on good things also.

    Play the kid.

  41. drewky Says:

NO WAY THIS HAPPENS. Billy constantly talks about Porter’s lack of confidence being the reason for his poor play. Which to me means that he is just setting up an excuse to NOT bench him, therefore reducing his confidence even further. Your starting PG for the rest of the 08-09 season is Michael Porter, just accept it.

  42. UKCatFan01ABC Says:

It’s not all Porters fault. And it’s not like we’re taking great players and just blasting them bad play. Porter just doesn’t have enough of whatever it is he’s got to play starting PG at UK. I’m all for hard work. Look where it’s gotten him? Starting PG for UK. But we’ve had a bit of a talent drought(thanks Tubby) and it’s time to put someone in with more ability.

These blogs are for opinions and that’s what you get. It’s not a foo foo UK sports blog where nothing negative about the Wildcats is allowed. I’ve been a fan ever since I was old enough to know what Kentucky Basketball is, but I still know a mediocre player from a good player. Tell me, would Porter ever touch the floor when Pitino was here?

  43. AppalachianWonder Says:

Liggins is still playing like he is in high school. And blaming any part of the last two games on Porter is ridiculous. Every single player in a UK uniform has thrown the ball to the press table at least twice, and that includes Meeks and Patterson. Darius Miller turned the ball over every time he touched it against UNC. This team cannot hold onto the ball, and Porter is not the only guilty party. Maybe they need to do the old Hal Mumme catching tennis balls drill…

  44. ricdix Says:

Porter was projected as a mid major out of high school. Tubby went to California to recruit his teammate and offered both at the same time. Porter jumped on it. I believe the other guy ended up at Washington.
I like Porter and wish him the best but the fact his, he may never be as good as Saul. Seriously… .the worst thing about Saul was the name Smith on the back of his jersey. I would love to have Saul Smith on this team. Go.

  45. gillispiesflask Says:

Porter is horrible…it’s that simple..saul smith was horrible…

  46. gixxerguy77 Says:

PUT IN HARTLINE, PUT IN HARTLINE !!!

  47. _Blackhawk_ Says:

I like Porter and think he gives it his all but he is much more comfortable coming off the bench than he is starting. Let Liggins take the position for now and allow him time to work through somethings.

I agree with the folks on here that we shouldn’t be too hard on the kid and he certainly isn’t the entire reason we lost the first to game by any means BUT he does hold good share of the blame.

Look at this I got from here http://cardsncats.ning.com/xn/detail/1189736:BlogPost:9662

In the first to games Porter had 4 points, 7 boards, 5 assists and 11 turnovers
Liggins had 6 points, 9 boards 12 assists and 11 turnovers

But the big thing is this with Porter in the game we have been outscored 100-67
Liggins in the game it is 88-84

Coach goes to Liggins more in the 2nd half of each game and we looked better in both those halves than the others. Time to let the freshman learn how to play the position with the easier team coming in. Let’s not wait folks because obviously Liggins gives us the best chance to win

  48. GummyBear Says:

Thank you, Matt, for putting it into hockey terms. I was having problems following your post until you did that. Now it all makes sense.

  49. Phili5 Says:

    45) Saul wasn’t nearly as bad as Porter. Saul could bring the ball up and at least initiate the offense, he could also throw in an open three. He just couldnt break his man down, and he wasn’t a great passer. Porter is good for one three a game and that’s about it.

  50. UKTopherdad Says:

Look, it is simple….With Porter at PG, UK has been outscored 34-9 at the beginning of both games…and 100-67 overall. Liggins at the Point? UK has only been outscored 88-84. Porter has an A/To ratio of 5:9(1:1.8)…Liggins is 12:11(1.1:1) And most of Liggins’ TOs are about decisions…whereas Porters are from lack of ability.

  51. UKTopherdad Says:

Hey!! Thx for the plug Blackhawk…..thats my blog entry…sorry for the reposting of facts…lol

  52. barkley25 Says:

    #45-
If Saul was so horrible, why was every single UK fan crying the blues after he left? He did the best job of running the offense than the person who came after him, but always got crappy support from the fans because he was Tubby’s son. No wonder his youngest son went somewhere else.

  53. _Blackhawk_ Says:

no problem UKTopherdad wasn’t sure when or if you would be able to post them yourself….they are too good to wait on since they really point out the problem.

  54. _Blackhawk_ Says:

brakley25 - you do realize that Hawkins took over after Smith right? All Cliff did was have more points, rebounds, assists and steals than Saul. Saul did have fewer turnovers but certainly Hawkins did a great job of leading the team.

I for one thought Saul gave us is all everyday and everytime out. I do think people were harder on him than they should have been but lets not pretend like his play was the last great play from a PG we have seen at UK.

  55. barkley25 Says:

First of all, the name is barkley25.haha
Second, Cliff took quite q while to come around, if you remember. I’m not saying he was garbage, I REALLY liked Hawkins. All I’m saying is that Saul was not as bad as people say, and was DEF. better than Porter is now. I like Porter too, but he just isn’t producing. I guess all I really meant is give him a little more credit.

  56. booted Says:

Porter can provided a great 15 minutes a game at the shooting guard position. I support Porter as a UK player and feel he has a role on this team as a 7 - 8th man, just like last season, and he does an awesome job at that role.

  57. cat1 Says:

We need to go back to basics. Dribble, Pass, Shoot. ANd i dont know if anyone listens to Fox SPorts radio channel 142 on your XM. But Steve Sabien who does the early show absolutly slammed the basketball team Wed, and even threw Kige under the bus with them. I laughed my a$$ off when he brought Kige Ramsey into the conversation. Actually im not sure he was talking about kige but this is how he described the individual. The crazy redneck from kentucky who loves kentucky and brodcasts his show on you tube.

  58. _Blackhawk_ Says:

Sorry barkley sometimes the ol fingers get moving too quick and don’t know what they are doing(that’s what she said) I totally agree that Saul is better than Porter I was just saying I think that Hawkins did as good, if not better, in some aspects of the game than Saul.

  59. barkley25 Says:

    #58
Nice that’s what she said joke. ha ha

  60. flipisatrip Says:

GJ and Ross-Miller will be refreshing to watch after these last 3 seasons. Bring back Turner, bring back cliff, who needs a PG that can score when they can actually dribble and handle pressure

  61. NashvilleCats Says:

    50. I’m not saying that Liggins shouldn’t start, because I think he should. He’s going to have to work it out eventually so we might as well get on with it. But I do think the stats are a little deceiving, especially from the UNC game. In the second half of that game, you could tell that UNC wasn’t playing with the same intensity as they were in the first half. So Liggins is getting the benefit of playing the most when the other team was starting to relax. And against VMI, he should perform better in a pick-up style game because that showcases all of his skills. I think he should be starting, but I right now I don’t really see him as being any better than Porter. He certainly will be, and that’s what we need to play him to achieve, but I just don’t see it right now.

And one more thing. Can someone please explain to me why 90% of the time no one helps our PG bring the ball up the floor or when he gets pressured at half court? I don’t care if it’s Porter or Liggins running the show, BCG has to figure out a way to get them some more help. Right now, neither guy is going to beat the press up the floor, split a double team, and make something happen, and yet, that’s what we seem to expect from them every time down. Sure, they turn it over a lot, but it seems like quite a few are from a double team at half court where no one is helping and they’re trying to make a play. And when we do have someone help, it’s Perry Stevenson. WTF kind of gameplan is that???

  62. liveblueorfyou Says:

porter and harris need to go to the bench put in liggins and miller let the kids play it is clear they have more talent we would be able to up the tempo how bad is galloway if he cant get pt over porter for god sake. let harrelson play and stewart I for one am sick and tired of watching the same players make the stupid mistakes over and over again.

  63. Getcha Popcorn Ready Says:

    # 47, way to break out the stats. What I would add to that is those Porter minutes are early in the game, so we wind up behind the 8 ball, having to ovecome huge deficits. Liggins makes this team way better defensively with his foot speed & wing span. Plus he rebounds the ball better.

    Also:

We are going too far back into the archives to find a good UK point guard. Ever here of Rajon Rondo, possibly UK’s only NBA starter at the position in the program’s history?

  64. flipisatrip Says:

63 good college point guards don’t have to be good pros. UK has had TONS of solid PGs. You don’t win championships without PGs my friend.

  65. SavannahCat Says:

The turnovers between Liggins and Porter are close, but the mistakes Porter makes are more than turnovers. If he ever gets the ball past half court, he starts the offense in the wrong spots, leaving bad angles for an entry pass to Patterson or a quick ball reversal. He is just to slow and to short to be an effective PG at UK. I have to be honest, I don’t think he should play at all. When your stuggling as a team, the best players should be on the floor. Look at last year. We started playing Crawford, Patterson, and Bradley 40 min per game and had success.(some) I wonder if Porter could suit up at S or CB for the last two games in football?

  66. gillispiesflask Says:

i guess a positive thing is that with this crew, no way Patterson goes pro after this season, hell he won’t get the ball enough to showcase anything he can do this year.

  67. AZ Blue Says:

    From ESPN.com:

    Tayshaun Prince, Pistons

That Prince can play isn’t exactly a state secret. But he’s never been as aggressive a scorer or as productive a rebounder as he’s been this season.

He pulled down a career-high 16 snares Thursday and is averaging 8.1 boards per 40 minutes; last season he averaged 5.9, and that average was a career high. Some of this success undoubtedly is because he’s playing as a small-ball 4 more often, but by any standard, it’s impressive.

He has been even better at putting the ball in the hole. Prince is averaging a career-best 17.5 points per 40 minutes to go with a career-best 56.4 true shooting percentage. And he seems unaffected by Allen Iverson’s arrival — in fact, he’s averaging more points since Iverson joined the team (16.4 ppg) than he did before (15.8).

On the one hand, that causes us to take his early-season numbers with a grain of salt — one has to suspect he’ll revert to his long-term averages. His 56.5 percent 3-point mark, in particular, is unlikely to last. On the other hand, his sharp increase in free-throw attempts this year may prove more durable.

For now, his early-season offensive explosion qualifies as one of the year’s top surprises thus far, and if he keeps up the pace, he could land his first All-Star appearance.

  68. cat1 Says:

I like harris. He plays good D and he takes the ball to the whole like a MAN. You could tell the other night miller looked lost on the court. His teamates were yelling at him to get in the right spot on inbounds plays and where he should be on the offensive end. I think Miller is a great player but he is not ready for the big match ups against UNC, and Louisville. He just looked lost. Saying that he should be getting a lot of playing time these next two games but as for the main stage let him learn from the bench til he is ready.

  69. SavannahCat Says:

How many of you wish Saul was at the point now? He was a serviable SEC PG. He was the coaches son, so he did not get any slack. The only reason for Porter playing that makes since is that he changed his name from Micheal Gillispie after BG left his mom to party like a rock star.

  70. cat1 Says:

With some hands on learning as well.

  71. cat1 Says:

I would never wish that on anybody.

Liggins will not start over Porter until after the start of SEC play. He will be subbing in earlier and earlier in games, but the starting role will not be given by Coach till the Cats go a little further in the season.

Do I agree with Coach? Well, I think at this point, if many of us on here were the Coach at Kentucky we would be trying ANYONE but Porter at the point, but that’s why I like Billy Gillispie. It is HIS team and HIS way, and eventually, once the Cats become a perennial juggernaut again, times like these will be seen a building blocks.

72 No doubt he was, im from the same hometown as epps so i got the pleasure of watching him in high school as well.

  78. 7isntenuf Says:

First off we have the advantage of bringing porter’s last season into account with this seasons epic failures. This gives us way more data than we have on Liggins/Galloway. I think liggins has the potential to help us in the PGrole this season, but he cannot handle that role exclusively. I think you have to give him PT until he makes mistakes then bring in porter so you can COACH liggins on his in-game mistakes from the BENCH. Ultimately, Liggins will NOT be ourPG. He will help this year but next years calss has 2 PG’s on it and they are much better suited to play the position than liggins.
    63) Great point I was thinking the same thing. I still have dreams of OTS not leaving and him and Randolph w/ JC and Smoove, and lunchbox……The dance cats performing numbers in the greatest Platinum attire. Then the alarm goes off.

#57: Kige Ramsey sets Ky back majorly–I haven’t lived in Ky in years and this Kige weirdo is one of the reasons why we forever get made fun of…he’s an absolute backward ass redneck. Please, don’t post anymore of his sh*t.

  81. 7isntenuf Says:

    80) I’m with you. I don’t understand the man crush this site has on him.

  82. booted Says:

Moved out west and got all snotty on us…Kige seems to be a good person, who cares if he is a little different. We need more Kiges in this world, especially out west!

  83. cat1 Says:

80 i tried to pull the recording but i can do anything on these computers. The show was on Wed. at 12:00 and he made the comments at the 23 mintute mark when i looked at the clock. IF anyone can get it i would love to listen to it again. He was all over our long shorts basically just ripped us. It kind of made since though.

  84. 7isntenuf Says:

I personally don’t like the capri pants either.

  85. westcoastukfan Says:

#82: Not snotty, just know how great Ky is, but no outsider ever understands. They just see rednecks like Kige and judge us all as dumbass hicks. I love Ky and UK and will retire back home one day…

  86. westcoastukfan Says:

#84: Memphis was sporting identical gear–Nike needs to stop using the goofy designers for their hoop wear.

  87. 7isntenuf Says:

or at least get a designer with less ties to “hip-hop”, I mean I don’t want to see them in the shorts of the ‘78 championship team, but there has tobe some middle ground somewhere.
